wooyoung regret not staying to see san. he hid around the corner and watched as san took the drink and smiled, looking around for him, wooyoung assumes.

it made him feel better to know san was still alive, and that he graciously accepted the drink.

"you didn't stay to see him?" yeosang shouts, stopping wooyoung from his train of thought. wooyoung hushes yeosang, sighing.

"i got too scared," wooyoung says. "i chickened out after i knocked on the door so i ran it down the hall before he could see me."

yeosang sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "wooyoung, he probably really wants to see you."

"well, how do you know that yeosang?" wooyoung argues. he knew he shouldn't have run away but he was fed up with yeosang shaming him for it.

"because he's standing outside of the shop right now."

wooyoung's eyes widen as he whips his head to the window, to see san peering in through the display window. he suddenly felt dizzy, was he dreaming?

"are you gonna continue to stare at him or go talk to him?" yeosang chuckles, earning a light slap on the arm from wooyoung. the blond gets up from his seat quickly and rushes outside, embracing san in a hug before the other could say anything.

it was warm as the last time he was in san's arms.

"thank you for the drink yesterday," san says. "and i'm sorry."

"for what?" wooyoung softly whispers, almost inaudible.

"for not talking to you," san sighs. "i've been trying to find a job but no one will take me."

"no one?" wooyoung repeats, now looking at san's face. san nods, gnawing on his lip.

they hug for a little longer before wooyoung pulls san inside the café and buys him a warm drink, which san tried to protest against. san looks skinnier, wooyoung has noticed. he doesn't know how he's lost this much weight, it hasn't been a long time since he's last since san. he also has massive bags under his eyes. and are those bruises-

"wooyoung?" san says, waving his hand in front of wooyoung's blank stare. wooyoung comes back to his senses, looking at san.

"sorry, i'm just thinking," wooyoung tries to laugh it off. "something up?"

there's a moment of hesitation before san opens his lips to speak.

"why are you so nice to me?"

"because i love you."

wooyoung's answer was quick, no hesitation behind it. he seemed so confident in his answer, it scared san a bit. san hesitates again before he speaks.

"don't you think it's too soon for that?"

"for what?" wooyoung is confused by san's question. his eyebrows furrow, as he cocks his head to the right.

"to say you love me," san answers. "are you even sure you love me?"

"it's never too soon to say i love you, because i do," wooyoung's still confused but he tries to make sense of the question. "why are you asking these questions, san?"

"i'm basically a stranger to you wooyoung, you barely know me," san almost whispers. "how can you say you love me when we've known each other for barely a month?"

"san, what's gotten into you-"

"we're nothing more than acquaintances, right? we're not in love, we were never in love," san says, burying his head in his hands. "we only needed to fill the void of being lonely."

wooyoung tries to touch san's hand but he's quickly swatted away by san. san stands up from his seat, his chair making a loud screech on the floor.

"i'm sorry," san says, digging a 5 dollar bill from his pocket and tossing it onto the table. "i'll be going now."

"san, wait," wooyoung calls out. "san!"

san doesn't listen, and quickly walks out of the café, making a sharp right turn and disappearing. wooyoung only watches through the glass, deciding chasing after him wasn't the best idea.

wooyoung walks to the back kitchen, where yeosang is drying washed dishes.

"how'd your talk with san go?" yeosang asked, without turning to face the blond. wooyoung says nothing. he lets out a weak sob before tears stream down his face. yeosang whips his head around and lets out a noise of surprise to see wooyoung breaking down into tears.

yeosang drops his things and rushes to wooyoung, embracing him in a hug. wooyoung falls into his embrace, sobbing softly as tears soak into yeosang's shirt. it felt different, it didn't feel calming.

yeosang's arms weren't as warm as san's were.
