thoughts spiral around wooyoung's head as he envisages what would happen during the rest of the week. with the thoughts of san moving home with his mother, he could barely focus on the tasks of his job, and his co-worker notices quickly.

"hey, woo," yeosang calls wooyoung from his absentminded thoughts. "i need you to wipe down the counters."

wooyoung doesn't respond, only picks up the sanitised cloth lying on the counter, exiting the flap door to start wiping down sticky substances from the wooden tables.

yeosang knew wooyoung was off, with the way he looked grey, his woolgathering, and the way he didn't jump over the counter like he usually did. the brunet only sighs, and reenters the back kitchen.

wooyoung plops the wet rag onto the table and gently wipes the wood table until it looks clean. he sidetracks again, and finds himself in the same spiralling thoughts about san. he didn't want the boy to go, but he didn't know what to do to fix any of the problems san had.

san's problems were not his, but he couldn't help but worry about them. san was a great influence in his life, even though he was only in it for a few weeks. there was always a weird feeling inside of him, softly telling him san was the one. he wanted more time to fall further in love with san, and san moving wouldn't give him the chance to.

"wooyoung," yeosang was standing behind wooyoung, who draped the rag off the edge of a table chair and rested his head on the table. "what's up with you today?"

wooyoung tilts his head to face the brunet, sighing. "i know you don't want to listen, yeo."

"i don't," yeosang confesses, pulling the opposing seat out from under the wood table. he flips the chair around and sits on it while resting his arms on the back of the chair. "but i care about you from time to time."

"surprisingly," wooyoung huffs, yeosang only smiling.

"now tell me what's wrong."

wooyoung frowns, inhaling deeply before he finally decides to tell the brunet: "san is moving away because he can't find a job in seoul."

yeosang's face doesn't move in expression, only hums a sound of affirmation. he bites the inside of his cheek, his eyes meandering the room as silence wafts.

"so, you're upset he's moving," yeosang repeats.

"i'm stressed because if he can't find a job soon, he'll leave," wooyoung says. "i want to help him, but i don't know how to find a good enough job for him."

yeosang props his arms onto the table, fiddling with each of his hand's fingers with his index and thumb. he watches as wooyoung's eyes drift to the floor and his shoulders drop.

"i'm sorry, woo," yeosang tries to tell him, but wooyoung stops him.

"working at the café was san's chance, he was really good," wooyoung cries. "jeong just didn't give him a chance."

"and i don't think he ever will, wooyoung," yeosang confesses, reaching his hand out to take wooyoung's limp and cold hand into his, gently rubbing circles on the back of the blond's hand with his thumb. "i'm sorry."

wooyoung shakes his head, pulling his hand away from yeosang, and standing up from his seat.

"i better get the oven and coffee machines ready, yena and ryujin will be here for their shift shortly." wooyoung utters, avoiding yeosang's eyes.

yeosang hesitates calling for wooyoung to sit down again, but when the brunet opens his mouth to say something, nothing comes out of the boy's throat. he sits there with his lips opened, and his throat tied into knots as he watches the blond walk back to the kitchen.

when the door shuts behind wooyoung, he sighs softly. there wasn't much yeosang could do to help wooyoung or san, so he felt useless here.

he looks at the watch annexed to his wrist. it was shortly becoming five o'clock, around the time yeosang and wooyoung were to clock out. he only stands up, pushes the table chair gently back under the table, and starts to untie his apron. he gently hangs it on the apron rack, and starts to close the register for yena and ryujin.
