he was out of breath, and his heart was pounding so quickly, he could feel it in his throat. he felt sick, but he was holding himself together.

standing in front of the door of room 303, he felt like he was suffocating. he wanted to turn around like last time, run before he can be reminded of everything that happened earlier today.

he knocks his knuckles roughly against the door.

but he wasn't going to run this time.

when he hears the lock unlock, he wants to run. when he sees the door pull open, he wants to lift his feet and run away. afraid of how this could all play out. this might be the only time he could make things right, so that he wouldn't lose the one person he loved.

when their eyes meet, wooyoung can't find it in himself to say anything. all the words he wants to say get caught in his throat, and he's suffocating again. why was this so hard?

all he can do is embrace san, holding him tightly. the blond feels san's body relax, and a large sigh exhale from his chest.

"why?" san asks, his arms lifting weakly and holding wooyoung's waist, gripping the blond's jacket tightly as he let his tears fall. "why do you keep trying?"

the words in wooyoung's throat finally come out, flowing out of his mouth like honey.

"it's hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember." wooyoung says softly, stroking san's hair as the other cries into his jacket. "we might've known each other for a month but i feel like i've known you for a while san."

there's silence, san's soft sobbing being muffled by wooyoung's jacket.

"i don't want you to leave, because i'm not ready to let you go," wooyoung says. "it's selfish of me, but i don't want to lose you. the moment i saw you in the café that day, i knew. from the moment i learned your name, heard your voice, laughed with you, bonded with you, i wanted to keep you with me forever."

silence. san's sobs have stopped completely, and now his head rests against his shoulder as he gently breathes.

"i want to help you," wooyoung says. "i just know there's someone who will give you a job. so please just let me help you."

wooyoung's voice cracks with his last word, and tears finally begin to slide down his cheeks. he sobs into san's shoulder, his hold becoming tighter.

it's san turn to do the comforting now. he gently cradles wooyoung in his arms, holding him close. there's no words spoken between the two, only the soft sound of wooyoung's sobs and san's breathing.

the silence was almost deafening, wooyoung wanting san to say something, anything. but he never does.

and maybe it's for the best.
