"this cold wind is written by us.
i'm tired of this love that has endured the distant seasons."

that was all it took. and it was enough to explode the way overfilled bottle she's been stuffing her emotions in all this time. one song. one melody that mirrored what she was feeling in her heart so well that it resonated in her, tipping the bottle over.

the tears fell out of the blue and they fell one after the other. yuna tried to wipe them away quickly but she couldn't dry her eyes.

it was cold at two am at the park. the wind blew the leaves that were beginning to fall and change color. she sat at the same bench where her and kai used to sit when they couldn't sleep. they would listen to music together.

this time, she sat by herself, carefully sneaking out. the apartment they shared was colder. and she figured it was time to try to find a new place. it was funny to remember how this started in the first place, with her and him being forced to live together in order to attend hynn academy.

with her head in her hands, she cried. she let out all the hurt that she masked with anger and pushed down. wiping her nose with her sleeve, she let out a cough. the ends of her coat sleeves were covered in snot. she didn't care.

she tried to steady her breathing.

one.

two.

three.

fou-

she looked up.

and there he was, hands in his pockets. he looked down on her, eyes tired and worried, glossed with guilt. she quickly wiped her nose again.

"what do you want?" she asked, avoiding his eyes. "go away."

he sighed at her stubbornness and ran a hand through his hair.

"i want to talk," he said. she stood up and crossed her arms.

"then talk," she replied. he sighed again and yawned. he hadn't been sleeping well lately and it was because he was too busy thinking about her. he wanted the fighting to end already.

"i'm sorry for hurting your feelings. i was inconsiderate and stupid."

there was a short silence before she spoke her thoughts.

"this isn't the first time, is it?"

when he responded with silence, she continued.

"i'm gonna end this here. i've thought about it already. i think we should break up."

the words felt weird on her tongue.

he let out a nervous laugh.

"you're joking right? yuna, i swear this was the last time-"

"no. i don't think we should be together anymore. you've had a lot of chances and you've already proven that you don't care. because if you did you would've changed back then," she continued, her voice unsteady. it cracked. just like her heart when he looked at her with those eyes. "or at least tried."

he promised he wasn't going to that anymore. every time they fought, every time they got on each other's nerves, kai would go out and openly flirt with other girls. right in front of her. she told him, but he didn't do anything about it. yuna was sick of it. sick of feeling bad about herself.

he didn't say anything and instead slowly nodded in understanding. kai shoved his hands into his pockets so she wouldn't see how they shook. he tried to play it off like he didn't care.

"fine," he said nonchalantly after a moment. "i don't care."

it would have worked if it wasn't for the expression on his face and the way the light reflected on his watery eyes.

yuna was going to be the one leaving.

"your confesssion,
your little promise,
scattered in the dust of the wind."
