When Thorn Met Rose

Chapter 5

Rose's Point Of View

'How was detention with the oh so sexy Thorn?'' Ella asked dreamily. We were at my house in my room. 

''Better than I expected.'' I said thinking back to how just two hours ago I was actually doing some work with Theodore.  I was very surprised that the person who barely showed up to class could actually come up with a play. It wasn't the most cheerful play out there, but different was good. 

''Really?'' Ella wiggled her eyebrows. 

''Not like that.'' I said rolling my eyes and reading over the notes we took down for the play. 

''But you wish it went like that right?'' Ella wasn't going to drop this. She was swinging side to side on my computer chair, watching me try do some work on my bed.

''No.''

''Yes you do.''

''I don't even find him attractive, now drop it and do some homework.'' I said and it was the truth. I didn't find Theodore hot. He wasn't ugly, he just wasn't my type. His hair was too long, he wore too much black and smelled of cigarettes. 

''Fine, whatever you say'' Ella winked at me and turned around to face the table. 

''Ella, would you like to stay for dinner?'' Mum had walked into the room few minutes later.

''No thank you Mrs. Edwards, my mum has something planned for tonight'' Ella replied like a very innocent little girl. All I could do was roll my eyes, the girl was great at being someone she wasn't. 

''Alright that's no problem, tell Evelyn I said hi'' Mum smiled and left the room. 

''You can put on an act'' I said.

''You have to be able to charm your friends parents. '' Ella grinned at me.

''Right'' 

''I could teach Thorn how to do it when you bring him home one day'' Ella winked and stood up. I didn't even bother replying, why was she so obsessed with Thorn and I having a thing? 

''I'll see you tomorrow at school, my mum is giving me a lift so I won't have to freeze to death by walking to school with you'' 

''It's good-'

''Yeah yeah, I rather be warm than be healthy and freeze. ''

''I'll see you tomorrow'' I laughed and gave Ella a quick hug. 

''If you happen to suddenly realize you have fallen madly in love with Thorn, please call me'' Ella said before leaving my room. 

''Thanks for being so kind!'' I called but I was sure she didn't hear me.

The rest of the night went by quickly, I finished writing two pages of the play and got all of my homework done. I double checked that I had everything done so I didn't end up in detention again. That would look bad on my personal record. 
I wondered if Theodore was trying to come up with his character. He was probably sitting on his bed with a cigarette between his long fingers, staring at his wall. That was probably a very dark colour and most likely covered in weird posters. 

''Why are you smiling?'' 
I hadn't even realized mum had entered my room. 

''Nothing'' I said feeling my cheeks heat up. This wasn't anything to be embarrassed about, I was only wondering if Theodore has started his work. 

''Of course'' Mum smiled. ''Dinner is ready'' 

''I'll be right down'' I said and mum gave me another smile and left.
