Thorn's Point Of View.

My brother and father having been home since I came back from hospital. I didn't care, they usually left and didn't come back for weeks, so this wasn't anything new.
I was in the living room, it was dark and smelled of everything. It was disgusting and I hated this place. I wanted change, I wished my father would at least try but he never does. Christmas was the hardest part of the year for all of us. But it seemed like I was the only one who actually tried to keep it  together. I sat on the stained sofa and smoked my fag. I didn't have anything to do until eight. I smiled as I remembered kissing Rose. Who would have thought I'd end up falling for her?

I suddenly felt like something needed to change and I didn't know where it came from but I got the weird blast of energy. I got up and decided to clean the house and maybe even decorate it. After all it was Christmas and mum would have wanted us to celebrate it.

I opened the curtains and for the first time in month the light entered the living room. I knew I had a long day ahead but I felt happy about this. I wanted to do it for mum.

I found some money in the kitchen, dad must have left it there for me. He usually disappeared at this time of the year. I picked it up and decided to go to the shop to buy some necessary things for the cleaning up.

I picked up Rose's hat and put on a coat and left the house.

I was lost in thought and didn't really pay attention on where I was going or who walked past me. Out of nowhere someone grabbed my arm and pulled me aside.

'''Thorn'' Alice said looking at me like she couldn't believe she was seeing me.

''Alice? What's wrong, and also-''

''You're alive'' She said and hugged me. What the fuck?

''I...'' I didn't even know what to say. I gently pushed her away.

''What are you talking about?'' I asked.

''Well we were smoking and then got drunk and went out, then you just wondered off somewhere and Jared and I couldn't find you. We thought you had died or something.'' Alice said.

I didn't even remember going out, no wonder I was found sleeping on a bench.

''Well I'm fine now.'' I replied.

''You doing anything tonight?'' She asked.

''Well...'' I said and thought of Rose. ''I am yes.''

''Seriously? '' Alice raised her eyebrow.s

''Yeah I got plans''

''Don't tell me it's with that red head.'' Alice said, and it wasn't even in a nice tone.

''Maybe it is, anyway I gotta go buy a few things.'' I said already walking away.

''She's not good for you'' Alice called and I stopped and turned around.

''Why?'' I asked.

''She just isn't your type, shes nothing like all the other girls you've been with. How can you like her?''

What was wrong with Alice? She was always so supportive and well friendly with me.

''That's exactly it, she isn't like all the rest, I'll catch up with you and Jared later.'' I said and walked away.

After picking up some cleaning things I walked back home.

As I cleaned I thought of maybe inviting Rose inside. I mean we couldn't just spend the night outside in the snow. It was fun but cold. With that thought in mind I cleaned even harder. I washed all the surfaces, there was so much dust I was surprised we hadn't chocked over it. The house was starting to look finally look like a home. I knew that we had a Christmas tree and all of its decorations somewhere in the attic so I went and got them out.

At seven I was finally done. I was surprised by what I had done. This wasn't like me, yet  I felt good about cleaning my mums house. The Christmas tree stood in the living room near the window, it made me think of how my brother and I always used to help her set up the tree. I missed her but maybe this was the way to slowly let her go. To just try and live life the way it should be lived.

Sorry just a really short chapter. I'll make the next one longer.
