Thorn's Point Of View.
I was gone for two days and nobody even noticed. I didn't even know how I ended up sleeping on the bench in a park. Last thing I could remember was smoking with Alice and Jared. After that everything seems dark. I don't remember anything. It was frustrating. Where was Alice and Jared anyway? The only person who seemed to at least try and care was Fire Head. I wasn't complaining, but I wasn't very close with her. Whereas with Alice and Jared, I was much closer to them, I knew them for longer and I considered us good friends. But now, where were they when I was passed out on a bench?
It didn't surprise me that my father and brother didn't care about where I was. As long as they thought I was alive, then that was all that mattered. Dad received his child support so he didn't care where I was.
At around seven pm, some doctor came into the room and told me I could go home. Home.
''Are you sure?'' I asked, not really wanting to go home. At least this place had warm running water.
''Yes, you just need to rest at home and take it easy.'' The doctor smiled, obviously oblivious to the fact that I would rather stay here.
''A nurse will bring in your clothing and you may go'' He smiled again and walked out.
I shut my eyes and took a deep breath. I needed a fag. I needed something. I just wanted things to change. I wished my mum was still alive.
''Is there anyone who could pick you up?'' The nurse asked.
''Um, no.'' I replied.
''I can't discharge you without anyone signing these papers.'' The nurse, a petite woman with blond hair and big round glasses, said pointing to a piece of paper that was on her desk.
''But.''
''Your girlfriend was here earlier.'' She interrupted me. For a second my mind went black. Girlfriend?
''The girl with the red hair, Rose I think she was called?''
''Oh! Sorry, completely forgot'' I said, remembering the fact that she called herself my girlfriend. I couldn't help but allow myself to smile.
''She could discharge me?'' I asked.
''Yes.'' She nurse smiled, looking at me all weirdly.
''Did she leave her number?'' I asked, feeling slightly awkward. I didn't even have my own ''girlfriends'' number. Then again, I didn't have my phone, so I was sure the nurse would understand.
''Oh, she did yes.'' The nurse said and went through some papers. She then wrote a number on a piece of paper and handed it to me.
''The phone is just over there.'' she said and I thanked her.
What a lovey woman, my mum would have really liked her.
I walked up to the phone and looked at the number in my hand. I was going to call Fire Head. This was going to be awkward. I wasn't prepared for this kind of moment. Then again, it wasn't anything too serious, she volunteered to called herself my girlfriend so she was supposed to do her job.
I dialed her number and put the phone to my ear. It rang and after a moment she answered.
''Hello?'' Her voice brought a small, enjoyable pinch to my heart.
''Hey, Fire Head.''
''Theodore'' She said. I closed my eyes for a brief second and inhaled deeply.
''Is everything alright? Where are you?'' she asked.
''I need you to come down to the hospital, they need your signature so they can discharge me.''
