Rose's Point Of View.
They had brought him into surgery. I didn't know what was happening. I didn't know how he was doing, nobody was telling me anything. The female officer had drove me to the hospital, stayed with me in the waiting area. Her name was Angela and she seemed to be over supportive about the situations.
''I know you feel hopeless,'' She said as I paced around the waiting area. She sat in a dark red chair and watched as I did so.
''You've got all the rights to feel that way. You don't know what's happening, but these doctors are doing their best,''
We had been in the hospital for at least an hour. I didn't even know where my phone was so I couldn't call Ella. I had missed school and I was sure the principal had rang my mum. She had probably tried to ring me and I hadn't picked up. I was in deep shit but at this moment I didn't really care. All I cared about was Theodore.
''Sit down,'' Angela said. I stopped and looked at the red seats.
I shook my head.
''Rose?'' Someone said my name. I spun around and saw a doctor standing there with a white lab coat on and a chart in his hand. He seemed old, his hair was grey.
''Yes.'' I said.
''Theodore is in a stable condition. We managed to stop the internal bleeding. The stab punctured his large intestine which caused some internal damages. He will, however, recover but in his own time. He is resting now but you are welcome to go see him.'' The doctor finished with a smile. Looks like he was happy that the surgery went well.
''So he isn't dead?'' I heard myself ask.
The doctor slightly chuckled. Had I honestly asked that?
''No, he isn't.'' He replied.
''Where is he?''
''Follow me.'' He said and without any questions, I did.
He lead me down a white and brightly lit corridor and stopped at a door.
''He's in there, he's going to be fine.'' The doctor said and with a reassuring smile walked away.
I put my hand on the handle and opened the door.
Inside was a single bed with Theodore sleeping on it. A chair was beside the bed which I occupied.
I looked at his face, he was pale. It didn't even look like he was breathing. If the machines weren't beeping to signal his heart rate, one would think he was dead.
I sat in the chair and took his hand in mine. It was warm, but motionless.
''Oh Theodore.'' I whispered a tear rolled down my cheek. Not because I was hurting but because I was relieved that he was going to be ok.
My heart beat eventually matched the beeping of the machines. It was slowing down and I knew that Theodore was going to wake up soon.
I sat in the chair, holding his hand and looked at his face. He looked so peaceful, no more of that rage and anger on his face from earlier. Did he really have nothing to eat? He didn't look like it. I mean, before all of this began, I had seen him around school and not once did I think that something was wrong with his family life. Not once did the thought of him not having anything to eat crossed my mind. I never would have imagined that his mother was dead and that his father was a drunk who was never home. It just showed that you can never judge someone from the way they look or act. There is always a story behind everyone. There is always something going on that nobody knows about. You can never know what goes on behind closed doors. Everyone has their own secrets that they wish nobody would ever find out. Everyone feels some sort of pain that they wish could go away. Nobody was ever perfect.
I lightly squeezed Theo's hand. Hoping that maybe something would eventually fill that empty hole in his chest. Maybe someone would someday show him that there is so much more to life.
I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice someone had walked into the room until they spoke.
''Rose?'' My mums voice made me jump.
''Mum,'' I said letting go of Theodore's hand.
''What are you...What, Why are you here?''
''I could ask you the same question.'' Mum said, she didn't look too happy. Her eyes went from me to Theodore.
''Who is this?'' She asked.
I glanced at my sleeping boyfriend.
''Theodore.'' I whispered.
''You missed the last two days of school, you don't pick up your phone and now I find you in a hospital with some boy?''
I turned to look at my mum.
''He's my boyfriend.'' I said.
My mums eyes slightly widened. I had never had a boyfriend before and I had never even spoken to mum about liking someone.
''Boyfriend?'' She almost laughed.
''Mum, please not now.'' I said.
''You are coming home with me now.'' She said and stepped closer to me. I stood up and took a step back.
''I'm staying here.'' I said.
''You're going home.''
''Mum he got stabbed.''
''And I need my daughter to be home.''
Why was my mum acting so mean? She always used to listen to me and understand me.
''Mum...''
''Rose, now.''
I glanced at Theodore, I knew I couldn't argue with my mum anymore. I just wanted to be here when he woke up. He would expect me to be here.
''He's not going to miss you while you're sleeping, let's go.'' My mums voice had slightly softened.
''Ok.'' I replied but before I left I leaned down and planted a small kiss on his forehead.
I turned to mum who had a small unmissable smile on her face.
''You can come back tomorrow.'' She said and I nodded.
With a final glance back at Theodore I left the room with my mum.
