chapter six.
date with the stars

IF you'd have told Georgine Brodeur, only days ago, that she would be be having to momentarily live in the same house as the Cullens... she'd have called you crazy. It was a weird experience, if she way being honest, but it was something the rest of the Cullen family had almost been expecting, by the seems of it.

When her and Jasper walked through the front door to the vampire home, only an hour after they had left it to begin with, everybody had came to greet them, except for Bella. (She must have already left to see Jacob, Georgine guessed.) Each of them smiled at her kindly, but with a hint of sympathy━━something Georgine didn't want people to feel for her, then. She was in danger, and because of it, she had to leave her mother, all alone, in their home. She had to lie, and pretend that both of their lives', along with Bella's and Charlie's, weren't teetering along the edge, waiting to crash land and, inevitably, be pronounced dead.

The only think keeping her going was the reassurance from Jasper.

He, along with the rest of his family, promised to protect Georgine, and her mother, like their own lives depended on it, once they had seen the look on the girl's face. It was twisted; concern laced within it, and light sweat dripping from it. She wanted to be sick, even just a little bit, because something like this shouldn't have been happening to someone like Georgine Brodeur. It shouldn't be... but, it was. Georgine had originally forced herself to get involved with everything that was happening to Bella, and because of that, she was smack bang in the middle of the problem. Don't get her wrong: even now, when she knows every secret and understands every whisper, she wouldn't have (if she had the opportunity to) gone back in time to change anything. Being involved meant she knew; she knew how in danger every living human currently was in their small, remote town, and she knew why Bella had been avoiding her━━for her own protection.

She wouldn't have changed anything, even if she could.

(Despite the sickness, building up in her throat, trying to tell you otherwise.)

Once smiles were exchanged, Carlisle asked for Jasper's presence in another room, signalling that he needed to speak to him about something important, along with Edward and Emmett. He left, reluctantly, but only after Alice and Rosalie comforted him in the idea that Georgine was going to be safe in their hands. As he left the room, turning his head to catch one last glimpse of her figure, Rosalie took the small bag Jasper had been previously holding into her own grip, walking a few paces ahead, whilst Alice slung her arm through Georgine's, and the trio began walking in a direction the human hadn't been in before.
