oh merde
( twilight. breaking dawn pt ii )chapter twenty five.
meaning of truthGEORGINE simply couldn't understand what she was looking at, who she was looking at. Alice. How long had it been since they had last seen her? Too long, that's for sure. Where had she gone? Why hadn't she told anybody? What━━
She barely spared her family a glance, continuing to walking forwards, heading straight for where the Volturi stood, on the opposite side. Georgine couldn't help but immediately look towards her fiancée, wondering what was going through his head. He must've been happy that his sister was back, but at what cost? For a short while (albeit, too long), they had all been unknown as to what was happening with her and where she had suddenly run off to, and in those moments, they couldn't help but slightly believe that maybe she had just got up and left them. It was the furthest thing for someone like Alice to do, but there seemed to be no other explanation. That was the worst of it.
Immediately, guards of the Volturi stalked up to her approaching figure, seizing her violently before she could even manage to get any closer. Beside her, Jasper tensed once more, secretly wanting to run forth and protect his sister. They both knew they couldn't, however━━it would only make their situation ten times worse than it ever needed to be.
They had to believe in Alice, they had to believe in their beloved sister. She must have left for a reason; there must be something hidden amongst her sleeves. They had to trust she would help them as much as she could.
"My dear, dear Alice," Aro crooned with immediate excitement, "we're so glad to see you here, after all."
Their sister didn't care to hear of his attempts at sleazy, half-hearted compliments━━at once, she was already back to protecting her family. "I have evidence the child won't be a risk to our kind."
That seemed to still the air around everyone. So, that's what Alice had been doing. She was on their side, after all━━they shouldn't have ever doubted her, not even for one single moment. But, that didn't necessarily explain why she hadn't told them; it didn't explain why she had forced them to believe in anything different.
But, she continued to side with her beloved, found family as she held her hand out, gesturing for Aro to take it within his grasp and allow himself to see what she could.
"Brother?"
Aro had always loved the idea of Alice's ability━━being able to see the future was something rare, something special. For so long, the man had been desperate to have Alice within his grasp, on his side, within his reach to had her ability for his own personal gain. It was something selfish, but Georgine guessed she could see where he was coming from. If she was someone as evil and repressed as Aro, she'd probably want someone like Alice on her side, too.
