oh merde
( twilight. breaking dawn pt i )chapter twelve.
wedding jittersSEVERAL days had passed since the new version of Georgine Brodeur had come to meet Bella, and, in her opinion, she was doing better than she had expected.
Obviously, there were still those rare occasions when Georgine had to leave before she inevitably ripped her throat to shreds, but other than that, she getting better at forcing Bella's alluring scent into the back of her mind. She would repeatedly tell herself, you're not a killer━━you won't kill your best friend. To begin with, it seemed like she was speaking those words to a brick wall, but as the days passed (aggravatingly slow, may she add, now that she no longer had to sleep), they stuck to her like glue, flowing her soul like a mantra.
But, even if Georgine began to feel a small tingle on the tips of her delicate fingers, a shiver running up her spine, remembering that she was hungry, thirsty for human blood, she would do all she could to stick it out. During that time, they had been planning Bella and Edward's wedding━━an occasion Georgine was adamant she wasn't going to miss for the world.
So, before their planned meet-up in the back of the mansion (Georgine could now say she lived in a mansion!), Georgine had took it upon herself to go out and attempt to find something to drain. She knew she had to be prepared, fully fed, if she was going to be around Bella for long periods of time. It was routine for the new vampire, now━━she wasn't taking any risks. Originally, on that morning, Jasper had offered to go along with her, like he had been doing every now and then. This time, however, she politely declined, explaining that if she wanted to become independent, then she had to start early, this way.
Georgine ran through the words, nose ablaze as she scoped out any lingering scents that tingled her pleasures. To begin with, she couldn't find anything, and a voice in the back of her mind told her to forget it, but she knew she couldn't. If she didn't feed on some type of animal then, there was always that gnawing possibility that she would freak out and attempt to kill Bella. That was the last thing she wanted.
Continuing forward, slowing her pace almost to a stop (something that had been a challenge within itself; it was so easy to go full speed, that Georgine forgot sometimes things needed to just slow down), she took in her surroundings. Everything seemed to be in such high definition, now, with her new enhanced senses added to her system. Her eyes would zoom in on the littlest thing━━the crumples and creases within the leaves, colours of orange, yellow, red, gold; she noticed the rings around plastered upon the bark of each tree, its life source dwindled to its edge as it began to die, after seeing life move on for decades; her ears picked up on the dirt squelching beneath her boots, imbedding it further into its home on earth. It was all so euphoric to her.
