"Chara... are you sure you really want to do this?" Ryan held onto her shoulders, leaning his face in close to hers. "We could be happy... Frisk wouldn't hate me, and..."

He slid his hands down her arms, one grabbing onto her hand, and the other resting pleasantly against her stomach. Ryan smiled lightly, and she smiled back, knowing he was just trying to be sweet.

"Maybe..." Ryan continued. "I can try again to raise a kid..."

"Ryan..." Chara breathed, than blinking hard to bring herself back to reality. "ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND?!"

Ryan took a step back, letting go of her. The look in her eyes was enough to tell him that she had completely made up her mind. There was no going back from this now, and he knew it. He lowered his head, knowing that arguing any farther could make things worse than it already was. He knew that she wouldn't have wanted to, why else would they be on this journey.

"Look!" Chara waved her hands in the air. "It's not that, that isn't a good idea. It's just that... I could never love you like I love Asriel...."

She relaxingly put her hands to her sides, calming herself down. Her eyes welled with tears, almost ruining the powder that she had created from the monster necromancy books. She quickly wiped away her tears, making sure they didn't drip

Ryan placed a hand on her shoulder  to comfort her. Chara grabbed a hold of his other hand and smiled.

"I didn't think I ever could forgive you for what you did to me..." she said softly. "But I do... I really do forgive you, Ryan."

"You're not just saying that to make me feel better, are you?" He asked with a smirk.

"Of course not" She smiled back, shaking her head.

...

Thankfully, the Riverperson's boat was still in the Underground. It was constantly flowing downstream, but it was easy enough to get on and go to Hotland.

It was a slow, mainly silent ride to Hotland. The only time they had conversation was if either of them wanted to comment on something like constant temperature change.

Chara and Ryan went through the series of elevators, heading near the throne room of the castle. When they walked through the last corridor, Ryan stopped to look at the identical stained glass windows.

"Ryan...." Chara turned around. "I-I have bad memories of this hallway... can we please hurry...?"

"Oh. Uh..." Ryan took one last glance behind him, swearing to himself that he saw a small yellow glowing shard in the corner. "Sure... let's go."

While walking into the throne room, Chara looked down towards the basement. Did Asgore clean it out...? Or... were the humans still down there...? She shivered, not wanting to think about it.

"Holy shit, that's a lot of golden flowers." Ryan stated.

"Asriel and I used to play here..." Chara said back. "Then... I made him follow a stupid plan that got both of us killed."

"That's why you look so young." Ryan said. "Because you came back from the dead?"

Chara turned around, and something about her appearance seemed to strike something inside him. It wasn't the fact that she looked younger. No... in fact she looked around your age.

"Well... would it be weird to tell you that I'm in your daughters old body?" Chara asked.

Ryan blinked. "Meh, I've heard and seen worse"

Chara laughed, looking out at the sea of golden flowers. Most of them have wilted by now. Mainly because nobody came here to water them anymore.

"Asriel would come back to water these flowers when the barrier broke." She paused. "But now they're all dying..."
