"man, what a day." Sans said as he grabbed your hand, heading out of the tall building you were in for the interview.
"You can say that again.." you told him. "I don't think Metta asked me that many questions in one interview."
"didn't help that his accent was thick as hell." Sans said. "wanna see what i wanted to show ya before we head back?"
You nodded and you felt the teleportation wash over you. You surprisingly didn't feel as dizzy as you normally would, maybe it was the determination acting up again.
You blinked.
What the-?
The ground was covered in a cheesy checkered printed blanket and a basket probably filled with food and red wine. On the side was two pillows and a couple other blankets to stay warm as you saw the sun setting in the distance. You laughed.
"what's so funny?" Sans asked.
"Nothing, Sans.. it's just cute." You pecked him on the cheek, causing the slightest bit of blue to appear on his face. "Thank you.."
"why don't you sit down? I brought sandwiches and some salad." he told you.
"Really?!" you looked at him in shock. He's never made salad for you. EVER!
"well..." He pulled out two store bought sandwiches and a bag of mixed chips. "a chip salad."
You laughed again and he smiled. You've seen him smile like that every time he made you laugh. A smile so tender, you thought it might break your soul in two if you never saw it again. You smiled back and he kissed you lightly under the stars.
When you pulled back you took the chip bag and opened it. Took a little less than a small handful and placed it on your lap to snack on. You looked out as the sun had finally set over the large city. The soft glow of light remaining causing Paris to look as though it were a heavenly place filled with angels.
"The view is beautiful..." You said, finishing the last bit of chips on your lap.
"it's not the only thing.." he said, causing you to turn towards him. "doesn't even compete with your beauty."
You waved him off. "Oh stop." You stared at him. "Cheesy much?"
"if that's what you want to call this." he stated.
You sat there in silence for a second and you slightly saw Sans' left hand start shaking beside you. He looked nervous. Almost like this was your first date all over again. You took his hand to calm him down and started talking to break the silence between the both of you.
"How do you think the others are doing back at home?" You asked.
He smiled lightly again, as if to thank you for picking a topic of conversation.
"i'm sure they're doing fine." He said. "they've all got each other, and al and dad are fiddling with the dt, so we should be able to send Kris back home soon." he paused. "and were flying back tomorrow anyway so you'll see them soon."
"Yeah, makes sense." You said, and the silence returned.
You both sat there, string at the now fully starlit sky in full silence and every so often, you'd see Sans' mouth open, like he was going to say something, then close as if he changed his mind.
"Is there something you want to talk about, Sans?" you asked. "You seem really jittery, kinda like this afternoon."
You thought about the moments before the girl showed up. The nervousness coming from Sans when you asked what was wrong or what was on his mind.
"a-actually.." Sans stood up and you looked at him, confused as he turned to you. "there is something i've been meaning to ask you for a while now..."
As thoughts raced in your mind, Sans reached into this coat pocket and pulled out a small box.
"f-frisk.. I've known you longer than any monster in the entire underground, including tori..." he breathed. "and..." he stopped again. "i... need to ask you something.."
"Okay?" You looked at him even more confused and you started eyeing the little box in his hand.
He held out his other to help you stand up and you happily took it and stood up. He then shook, shivered almost as he breathed slowly and shakily before nodding to himself. You looked at him in confusion still, and he started lowering to the ground. Kneeling on one knee in front of you, he opened the box to reveal a small blue diamond ring.
You almost started crying. Not because you were sad. God no. it was because you didn't expect this, and you were so happy that it was happening. Then the question popped out, right before your very eyes. The monster who loved you, who you loved back, asked you that one defining question you dreamed he would say since you first kissed.
"w-will you marry me, frisk?" he said, voice shaky.
You stared at him, eyes going teary as you covered your mouth with your hands. You slowly lowered them down to your chest and spoke.
"I-I can't.." You started.
The look on his face faltered and he looked distraught as he lowered his head slightly.
You continued. "I can't believe it took you this long to ask me, you bonehead!"
He shot his head back up to look at you. A smile stretched across his now tear drenched face and he laughed nervously.
"s-so that's a.. Y-yes..?" he asked.
"Obviously!!!" You shouted, wrapping your arms around him and falling to the ground to hug him.
He laughed nervously again, slowly transforming into crying as he hugged you back twice as tight.
"i-i... i thought y-you were going to say no for a moment there.." he said.
"Why would I say no to the only person I truly love in this hell of a world?" You say, reminding him what he said in the lab before the barrier was broken.
"yeah.." his voice was still shaking. "yeah..."
