A/N: I just found out my best friend is pregnant! So I'm posting this chapter in celebration. Haha she doesn't even know about this account, but I'm just happy and excited, so here's the chapter I've been waiting to post!! (If there's any typos, let me know because I haven't proofread this chapter)
MADISON
I HAVE no clue why I'm doing this. When Kaiden called me last night, I knew he was drunk. His words were slurring together and I could hear music playing in the background. He invited me to breakfast and I accepted his offer because I wanted a distraction. Kassie ended up calling some guy she used to hookup with, who works at the police station, and managed to weasel out some information.
The police are doing everything they can to find Allie and tomorrow they're going to do a press conference. A lot of girls are going missing from the Bay Area, all young and most in college. I guess Allie was the tip of the ice-burg. Still, I didn't want to spend the whole day cooped up in my dorm.
I knock on the apartment door and hope Andrew's not the one who answers. Nobody answers, so I knock again. I check my phone and see it says 7:55 A.M. So what if I'm five minutes early? I hear some grumbling and then the door swings open. A redhead stands in the doorway. She's only wearing a t-shirt that obviously doesn't belong to her, and I can't tell if it's Andrew's or Kaiden's.
"Can I help you?" She crosses her arms and glares at me.
"Um, I'm here to see Kaiden."
"He's asleep." She looks me up and down.
"Can you let him know Madison is here?" I cross my arms to mirror hers. I guess she slept with him last night or something. Why would he ask me to go to breakfast with him then? Ugh, I'm really starting to despise the male species.
"What are you? Some girl he slept with? His friend? Cousin? Sister?" She raises an eyebrow.
"Can you just get him, please?" I'm becoming irritated with this girl.
"Fine," She mumbles and leaves the door open while she walks back to Kaiden's room. She slams the door behind her.
I step inside the apartment and shut the door behind me. Andrew's door is shut and his keys are on the kitchen counter, so I know he's here.
Kaiden emerges from his room. He's slipped on a pair of black joggers, but his hair's a mess. By the hickeys littered across his chest, I know what he was up to last night.
"Can we talk in the hallway?" I ask, noticing the redhead standing in the doorway of his bedroom. I don't want her listening to our conversation.
"Yeah, sure." He mumbles and gestures for me to lead the way.
Once we're out in the hallway and the door is closed, I cross my arms and glare at him. "So, what was the point of this?"
He rubs his eyes and blinks a couple of times, his eyes still adjusting to the light. "I don't know."
I scoff. "You don't know? You invite me to breakfast and I come here to find you with another girl."
He looks at me, confused. "When did I invite you to breakfast?"
Anger surges through me at what a jackass he is. "You know what? Just forget it. You can go back in there. I'm going home."
