MADISON

KAIDEN wakes me up at four in the afternoon. I guess that Tylenol PM really did a number on me, and the fact that I was up half the night waiting on Kaiden to come home.

"Get up. You're coming to work with me." He rips the covers off of me and I'm greeted by the cool air in the apartment. I groan and attempt to snatch the covers back, but he yanks them down further, out of reach.

I rub my eyes in an attempt to get to the sleep out of them. "What do you mean I'm coming to work with you?"

"Exactly what I said. So get dressed and pack an overnight bag," He pauses. "Actually, pack enough for two nights." Then he leaves the room, leaving me with just his orders.

I do what he says for some odd reason. I take a shower to wake me up, then I throw on some clothes, and pack my Victoria's Secret duffel bag with enough clothes and toiletries for two nights.

He's waiting on me in the living room, twirling his keys around his finger. "Let's go." He says as soon as he sees me and pushes himself off the back of the couch.

"To where?" I ask, but he's already grabbing his packed bag from the floor and seconds later, he's out the door. I follow right behind him and make sure to lock the apartment since, according to Kaiden, we're going to be gone for at least two days.

"Where are we going?" I repeat once again when we reach his car. The sleek black paint glistens in the sun. He pops the trunk and throws his bag inside, then reaches for mine and does the same.

I cross my arms in defiance when he closes the trunk and looks at me. "I'm not getting in until you tell me where we are going."

"Seattle. Get in." He doesn't wait for any kind of rebuttal from me, instead he walks around to the driver's side and climbs inside. I still don't move from my position, not until he starts the car.

"Why are we going to Seattle?" I climb inside the car reluctantly and fasten my seat belt.

"Work. Stop scowling or your face is going to stay stuck that way."

I roll my eyes and look out the window. His windows are tinted so dark it seems cloudy outside even though I know it's perfectly sunny.

Kaiden pulls into a McDonald's and orders us both a cheeseburger meal. I'm not the biggest fan of McDonald's, but I am hungry, so I eat it anyway. I get the feeling this is going to be a long trip with not many stops, so once I finish my food, I lean the seat back and shut my eyes. I'm still feeling drowsy from the Tylenol PM, so sleep comes easy.

I wake up to the sound of a car door shutting. When my eyes snap open, I see we've stopped at a gas station and Kaiden's opening his tank. I grab my phone and see it's already nine. I've slept for five hours.

I sit up and stretch as much as I can in the car. Then, I open the door and step outside. The chilly night air bites at my skin.

"Hey, I'm going in to pee." I tell Kaiden. He just nods his head. I'm starting to get annoyed with his attitude today. I guess he's mad at me for waking Jordan and Cameron up in the middle of the night, but that wouldn't have happened if he would've just told me where he was going, or if he didn't leave at all.
