MADISON

WHEN the morning light finally slips through the window, I remember last night's events and instantly wish I could just fall back asleep and forget it all. I also hate that I'm waking up in Andrew's bed. It reminds me of him, and I don't want to be reminded of him whatsoever.

I'm still wearing my dress and my eyes are puffy from crying so much. When I walk into Kaiden's bedroom, I'm surprised to see that all the furniture is gone and the carpet has been ripped up. There's no trace of Peter or his blood.

Kaiden's not in the kitchen or the living room, instead I just find boxes. Everything is boxed up, including all the food in the pantry.

The front door opens and Kaiden walks into the apartment, followed by Cameron and Jordan. They have more boxes.

"What's going on?" I ask.

"It's moving day for you, sweet cheeks." Jordan smiles and tosses the boxes on the ground.

"Moving day?" I look at Kaiden for confirmation.

"We're moving. There was an opening in their apartment complex so I went and signed the lease this morning." He explains.

Cameron and Jordan live in a nice apartment complex from what I can remember. It's more into the city.

"How many bedrooms?" I ask.

"One."

"Well, who said I would agree to move with you?" I cross my arms. I like living with Kaiden, and we already shared a bed anyway, but I liked the fact that I had a bedroom to fall back on in case something happened.

"Me." Kaiden shrugs and grabs an empty box.

"What did you do with the carpet?" I know someone had to see Kaiden, Cameron, or Jordan lugging out the bloodied carpet, and there's no way anybody would miss them hauling a dead body.

"Burned it. Along with that assclown's body." Kaiden shrugs as if this is no big deal to him, yet the other day he was torn up over shooting Peter's brother.

"In other words, don't worry about it. Everything is taken care of." Jordan adds for whatever reason.

I watch as they throw everything into boxes and tape them up. The living room becomes bare, reminding me of how it looked when Andrew brought me here that cold, snowy day. I was so excited.

"Hey, we've gotta go man, but call us later and we'll help you unload the U-Haul." Cameron slaps Kaiden on the back of the shoulder.

"Alright, cool. Thanks for all your help." Kaiden says, then they all do some kind of handshake before Cameron and Jordan leave.

Once Kaiden closes the door behind them, I ask, "So, we're moving because you ruined the carpet?"

"No, we're moving because we got evicted. I had to tell the landlord I fucked up the carpet and it needed to be replaced. He didn't like that, even though I offered to pay for everything, so now we have forty-eight hours to get all our stuff out."

Lucky for me, most of my stuff is still in boxes anyway.

"I'm going to go take a shower. I'm sick of this dress." I'll probably burn this. I don't want to be reminded of last night ever again.
