KAIDEN

Jordan: Where are you? Madison's here.

I stare down at my phone, looking at the text over and over again. I contemplate going to the club like I said I would earlier, but sitting here all alone feels so much better. I just got in my car and drove and drove until I finally came to a stop in the middle of an open field. The smog isn't as thick here and you can actually see the stars for once.

I know Madison is probably wondering where I am. I still don't text or call her. I don't feel like talking to anyone. Especially her. I don't want to open up and talk about feelings like she wants me to do. I'm fine with keeping my feelings tucked away in a box in the corner of my mind.

Me: Don't feel like coming.

I feel like an asshole, kind of. Not really. This is just how I deal with things. Everyone has coping mechanisms and this is mine. I just go away and be by myself for a while.

I don't want to talk about what I did. I don't want to talk about why how it makes me feel. It's over and done with. The only thing I can do now is move forward.

Jordan: She's had two shots and already starting to act drunk. Is she a light weight?

Fuck. Leave it to Madison to get drunk after only two shots. I sigh and let him know I'm on my way. For once, I'd rather not spend my night in a club.

As soon as I step inside the club, I know the night's not going to end well. Cameron and Jordan are both sitting at a table in the corner and when they notice me walking in, they give each other a look.

"I'm here." I say when I approach the table. Cameron slides me a beer.

"Where is she?" I ask and take the beer from him.

Cameron nods towards the dance floor. I look in that direction and my eyes immediately land on her. She's dancing with some frat boy. His dick is probably two inches long and his best attribute is probably the fact that he was beer bong champion two nights in a row.

What grinds my gears the most is that she looks like she's enjoying it. She's enjoying his hands all over her. Her brown hair falls over her shoulders in waves and her dress accents all her curves.

"Hm." I hum and take a seat in one of the chairs. I wonder how long it will take her to notice me sitting here, watching her.

"This is awkward. I'm going to go dance with my girl." Jordan finishes off his beer before he excuses himself from the table, and joins Claire on the dance floor.

"Aren't you going to go dance with her?" I look at Kassie. She's having fun dancing by herself. Why can't Madison have fun dancing alone?

Cameron shakes his head. "No, I hurt my ankle. Trust me, I wish I could." He looks longingly as his girlfriend. In this moment, I wish I could barf.

"Aren't you going to go kick that guy's ass?" He chuckles, looking at Madison and that frat dickhead.

"No," I shake my head. "I'm waiting for her to notice me."

Her hazel eyes finally look up and stare right into mine. I see her eyes widen momentarily, then she smirks and continues to grind on the boy behind her. If looks could kill, she would be dead with the glare I'm giving her.
