KAIDEN
HANGOVERS fucking suck.
There's definitely a better way to handle your problems, I just can't seem to understand that.
The first thing I notice, besides the pounding in my head, is that the bed is empty beside me. I remember falling asleep, or passing out rather, and Madison was beside me. Now, the bed is empty and it looks like she wasn't here all night.
I force myself out of the bed and into the kitchen where I grab two Tylenol. The couch is also empty, informing me that she didn't sleep there either. I doubt she would've slept in Andrew's bed, just because of the way things ended between them, but out of curiosity I check in there anyway.
Sure enough, she's cuddled up under the covers. Her mouth is slightly parted and her hair is a mess, but she looks beautiful. Even with no makeup, she's still the most stunning girl I've ever laid eyes on.
I got pissed yesterday. I know I shouldn't have left and came back drunk, but I didn't feel like talking about it. Or thinking about it. It especially made me mad when she got pissed at me for going home with the blonde. I only kissed her, which is exactly what she did with that guy at the club.
I head back to my room, change into some clothes, and head to work. Gabriel is already working on some sports car when I enter the shop. He nods at me as I walk by and head to my station. I don't want to be here today.
I hear the door to Marcos's office open, then shut, followed by the thud of his footsteps. They approach my station and I whirl around the stool I'm currently sitting on. He's standing there, wearing all white, which makes him stand out considering we're in a mechanics shop.
"Let's talk." He says gruffly and nods at his office door. He doesn't wait for my reply, he just turns on his feet and starts walking back.
I know I don't have any other choice but to follow him, so I sigh and stand up. I can only imagine what he's going to say.
"Shut the door behind you." He says and rounds his desk before nodding at the chair across from his. I take the seat and sit down.
He grabs a cigar from his drawer and then a lighter. He brings the flame to the tip of the cigar and inhales a puff of smoke. "I know about James."
My skin immediately starts to crawl. I'm guessing Tyler told him. Of course he did, he's such a kiss ass.
"I did what I had to do."
He nods. "I know. In fact, I want you to take care of some more business for me. There's a cartel moving supplies down at the Overlook. I want you to eliminate the threat. Can you do that for me?"
The Overlook is a private club downtown. Actually, it's more like a sex club. I went there once with Cameron and didn't enjoy it. It smelled like a seafood buffet and cigarette smoke.
"What do you mean by that?" I ask.
"Exactly what I just said. Eliminate the threat. Do what you have to do."
"By when?"
"Tonight."

The bright sign on the front of the door has been my view for the past twenty minutes. I can't bring myself to get out of my car. I know once I go through those doors, I have a job I have to finish.
I take a deep breath and slowly let the air slide between my lips. I do this a couple times until I finally find the courage to grab my gun and open my door. I slide the gun into my waistband before I shut the car door and lock it.
