HEY GUYSSSSSS. I have a new favourite reader! Her user is @YintheValcke and you should follow her because she's awesome.

I would also like to clear something up: THIS STORY IS NOT BASED ON ANY SPECIFIC POINT IN THE SERIES. The only thing that is the same between my story and TMI is most of the characters, and the idea of Shadowhunters and their abilities. Everything else's is made up by me, including the idea that Sebastian and Clary have always known they were related. Yes, their dad is Valentine, but Valentine died, they killed him together. So if you were wondering about Sebastian and Clary's relationship, there you go!!

|Sebastian POV|

I watch as Clary hugs her best friend since the beginning of time. I remember the first time Simon came over to play with Clary. I was five, maybe six. Clary was about four. It was the first friend Clary had ever had that allowed me to play with them. All the other kids she had over wouldn't let me play too. That was when I decided I was okay with Clary having another friend besides me.

I look to my right and see the new guy that Jace had found next to me. Marcus. He looks beyond confused.

I nudge him gently in the arm, and then pointy subtly at Clary and Simon in front of us.

"Clary and Simon are best friends. They've known each other since preschool. Clary left four years ago because Jace cheated on her, but we came back yesterday. Simon just found out what happened, but he's not mad. That pretty much summed it up," I say, frowning.

"Okay...," Marcus replies, still looking confused. "What's that other girl have to do with it all? Izzy or whatever?"

"Isabelle is Simon's girlfriend and Clary's other best friend," I whisper back. "Don't mess with her. She's terrifying."

"Okay," Clary says as she pulls away from the embrace. "Issue at hand."

Clary walks towards Marcus and me, a smile on her face despite the obvious signs of recent tears on her face.

When she reaches us, she sticks a hand out for a shake towards Marcus. "Hi. I'm Clary. I'm really sorry about what I said earlier. There just was a lot going on, and my emotions at literally everywhere lately."

Marcus smiles back, and then shakes her hand firmly. "No problem. I can understand that you'd be like that, considering what just happened a few minutes ago."

Clary laughs, and then nods. "Definitely makes sense judging from what you just saw. Just so you know, I'm not always like that."

"Just every other day," I interject, grinning. Clary punches me in the arm before grinning back.

"You just don't want to admit that you're actually a softie that's like how I just was all the time, Sebastian," Clary says, laughing.

"Clary's definitely tougher than Sebastian," Melissa says, her eyes twinkling with laughter as Sebastian glares at her.

"Don't listen to them," I say, grumpily. "They're all liars."

Marcus glances around at us, a bewildered look on his face. "What just happened?"

We all laughed, and Marcus grins widely too. I look around at everyone and say, "Maybe we should tell him our names, yes?"

I stick my hand out for a handshake just like Clary, and say, "I'm Sebastian, Clary's brother."

Josh and Melissa quickly introduce themselves, and everyone else does as well.

"Well, it's good to meet you all," Marcus says, his eyes still showing confusion.

"What's wrong?" Clary asks.

"Well, I still don't know what the hell a Shadowhunter is, and apparently I am one," Marcus says, his face getting red as he admits his confusion.

"A Shadowhunter is... a Shadowhunter is...," I say, trying to find the right words to describe what we do without making us sound like maniacs.

"A Shadowhunter is a person that protects the mundane world from the dangers of this planet," Jace speaks out from the far corner of the room. He steps out of the shadows (a/n: haha unintended pun there...) and spoke again. "We are a race that is made up of human blood and angel blood, which is how you have that Mark on your arm. We call them runes. We can appear hidden from the rest of the world once we know what we are, which is why you seemed like a mundane your whole life. Are your parents Shadowhunters?"

"Jace. Slow down," I warned.

"I don't know," Marcus whispers, looking down at his feet. They died when I was really young."

"Ah. I see," Alec says as he sits up when the conversation seemed interesting to him. "You don't know."

"No, I have no idea," Marcus replies.

"What's your last name?" Simon asks, and he steps closer to the group.

"Fairchild. I'm Marcus Fairchild."
