So I really enjoyed torturing you lot last chapter... Hehe. As I'm writing this, it's my birthday. YAY!
|Clary POV|
I stare at Marcus in shock. "Excuse me?" I choke out.
"My name is Marcus Fairchild. What's the big deal?" he asked, a slight frown beginning to form across his face.
"Nothing, it's just that... That's my last name," I say slowly, not sure how to put it lightly.
"So?" he asks still looking confused. "It can't be that uncommon of a name..."
I gave him a look. "Have you ever met anyone with the last name Fairchild?"
He pauses, and then shakes his head slowly. "No, I don't think so."
"Then...we could be related," I say, pointing at me and then him.
"Woah. Clarissa. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here," Sebastian says, putting a hand on my arm.
I shoot him a glare. "Don't call me Clarissa, how many times do I have to tell you!"
"Wait. Clarissa?" Marcus asks.
"Yeah. It's my first name, but I hate it. Which is why this arse over here calls me it," I say jabbing a thumb in Sebastian's direction.
"Your name is actually Clarissa," he says quietly. "And you're Sebastian?"
"Well, technically I'm Jonathan, but I prefer to be called Sebastian. It's my middle name," my brother says.
"Jonathan and Clarissa! I know you lot!" Marcus says, his eyes widening in excitement.
"You...do?" I ask, extremely confused. "How?"
"I have this memory from when I was younger. I must've been two, maybe three. My parents took me to meet you and your mom," Marcus explains.
"How did your parents know our mom?" I ask.
"And more importantly, how the hell do you remember something from when you were two?" Josh says incredulously.
"I don't know, Clary. We have to find out," Marcus says in reply to my question. Then he turns to Josh a grin on his face. "I'm pretty sure I've got a near-photographic memory. I remember just about everything that's ever happened to me since age one."
"Dude! That's so cool!" Josh says, grinning back at him.
"Yeah, it's awesome," Marcus answers, smiling widely.
"Let's go talk to mom," Sebastian says, nudging me in the arm.
I give him a look, and then turn to face Marcus. "Do you want to go talk to our mom about this? You don't have to, but if you're alright with it, we should talk to her."
"No, I want to go!" Marcus says quickly. "Let's go!"
"Right now?" Sebastian says, raising an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"
"Yes!" Marcus says, his eyes twinkling. "If you lot are my family, then I want to know as soon as possible."
"Okay," I say, laughing. "Let's go!"
"Who wants to come with us?" Sebastian asks, looking around at the group. "Izzy, Simon? You up for it?"
"I'll come," Simon says, nodding. He look at Isabelle, and she nods her head too.
"I'll come," she says, smiling at me.
"Awesome," I say, smiling back. Anyone else?"
"I'm gonna skip this one, Fairchild. I have to have a word with a friend of mine," Alec says, shooting a look in Jace's direction.
I sigh, and then say, "Fine, Alec. Just keep in mind that he's your parabatai, and your best friend. I forgave him, too."
"Fine, whatever, yeah," he mumbles, and walks away.
Melissa turns to my brother, kissing him on the cheek. "I'm gonna sit this one out as well. Stay safe." She smiles at Sebastian, and then turns to Josh. You coming with me or going with them, little brother?"
"I'll go with you, Mel. I'm pretty tired," Josh says, and then yawns.
"Yeah, yeah whatever we get it," I say, rolling my eyes. "See you later Josh."
"Okay," he says, and he walks off with his older sister.
"Should we go?" I say turning to my brother, and then Marcus.
"Yeah," Marcus says, smiling at me.
"Let's go," Sebastian says.
I hear Isabelle and Simon close the door behind us, and I knew it. This was the point when every lie, every truth was to be spilled.
