Winter Starvation

---

THE DAY passed by in a blur, with everyone minding their own business. Kakatapos lang ng dinner sa royal dining chamber which I survived in silence. Right now, I was walking towards the hallway that led to my room, with Delphine twirling around me habang naglalakad ako.

"Um, Skylar," She said, trying to catch my attention and wave her little hands. "You will be residing in your new room."

"Residing?" I paused in the middle of the corridor filled with paintings. "Where??"

"Here." Someone said and both of us whirled around to see Haisley, leaning in front of an open doorway with crossed arms. She gave me a warm smile. "Pasok kayo."

Napatingin ako kay Delphine who smiled apologetically at me before I looked back at Haisley who seemed to be waiting for us. I then gave her a small nod and a smile. As soon as she turned her back and entered the room, I hesitantly followed her with Delphine flying right behind me.

Tulad noong huling kwarto; this room too had gold details and designs throughout its interior. One wall was made to be an entire glass window, whilst the other walls were painted a lovely shade of creamy peach.

Three queen-sized royal canopy beds the shade of cream and pastel peach filled the large space of the room, alongside white bedside tables and large mahogany wardrobes. It was majestic.

As soon as I stepped further inside, nakita ko si Maidson na nakahiga doon sa isa sa mga higaan. She didn't seem too happy that I was here.

"This is my bed, and my space." She said, her face covered in a light green liquid that must be a face mask. Mayroon ring dalawang slice ng cucumber na nakapatong sa eyelids niya. "Touch my things and you'll never see the dawn of day again."

Napatingin ako kay Haisley at Delphine who both shrugged at me, before Haisley plopped onto her own bed near a table full of paper, glitter and pictures. "Don't look at me, sabi ni Chancellor Asteria na ipagsama lahat ng team members sa iisang kwarto. I'm sure pati yung mga lalaki sa kabila ay magkakasama." She says, blowing off the bangs that were covering her eyes.

"Besides, magandang chance 'to para mas makilala ka namin." Sabi pa niya. "Your bed is the one near the window by the way."

"Thank you," I said, curiously gazing at the things scattered on her desk. Medyo nahihiya pa akong pumasok ng todo at umupo sa higaan ko because I felt like a speck of dirt in the midst of it all, as if I didn't belong.

"Pasok ka lang, pabayaan mo 'yang si Maddie, she's just getting her beauty sleep." Haisley chuckles, sitting up to look at me. Napangiti ako.

Napansin ata niyang nakatingin ako sa mga gamit niya. "Oh that? That's nothing." She says, waving it off. "Mahilig lang talaga ako mag-collect ng mga memories, mga bagay-bagay."

"It's nice," I tell her, slightly touching one page painted with stars and poetic words written on the corner. On it was a polaroid snap of Castillo de Luna.

"I just happen to compile things and put them in a scrapbook," she explains, fiddling with a dried flower that sat on the table. "And ayan, naadik na rin sa pag-jo-journal."

Nararamdaman kong parang nahihiya siya na ipakita ang gawa niya, which is why she kept on explaining. I grinned. "Haisley, it's beautiful." Sabi ko sa kanya, assuring her.
