Crash of Memories

---

EVERYTHING WAS peaceful.

I stood still in the middle of the meadow and felt the early morning breeze brush my cheeks in soft kisses.

I let out a little giggle of excitement before twirling around and caressing the dandelions that surround me against the tips of my fingers.

Right above me, the sky too was in a beautiful shade of blue, perfectly commemorating my name...

...and my eighth birthday.

"Skylar Eloise Knightley!"

I whirled around, feeling my soft lilac dress twirl along the movement of my knees.

She was a lovely figure and her comforting smile added more sunshine to my lovely day.

Looking at her from afar, masasabi kong napakagandang nilalang ang aking ina. But with her eyes that light up every time she speaks, soft lips, long eyelashes, full brows, dainty features, and long, soft hair that fell down in waves; 'di hamak na maganda talaga si mama — both in the inside and out.

Kaya siguro na-in love dito si papa.

"Pasok ka muna anak at mahahamugan ka!" She insisted, motioning me with her calloused hands to come over.

I remember — my mother's hands weren't at all that calloused back in the day. She had the softest palm to the touch; like the skin of a baby. But time and work weren't at all that kind to her, especially since she was the only one usually left at home to take care of me.

Madalas kasing wala si papa.

With a happy tune, I skipped through the tall dandelions and hurriedly went towards her. Inilagay ko ang aking kamay sa kaniyang palad and she wrapped her comforting arms around me before manuevering the both of us towards our dainty home.

"Let's make you your favorite hot choco?" She asked with a smile as my eyes wandered to the right, kung saan nakita ko ang malambing na pag-hampas ng alon sa dalampasigan.

I nodded, quite absent-minded now. Hot chocolate was my all-time favorite, but something else was now currently on my mind.

Hindi kalakihan ang bahay na mayroon kami, but it was alright.
