"SKYLAR, DALI!" Haisley shouted; flailing her arms over her head as she tried to coerce me in joining their game.

The royal feast had been done a few hours ago and Haisley, Hugo and Damien decided to play under the sun; para daw maka-relax naman from this morning's training.

They wanted to play a game of royal volleyball.

"No thanks, I'm good," I call out to her and she pouts, about to walk to my direction and pull me over pero nagpapansin na agad si Hugo at binatuhan siya ng bola.

"Hey!" Haisley grunts, before running to grab ahold of Hugo na agad namang kumaripas ng takbo. Napangiti ako.

"Kiddos," Madison, who also didn't join the game, muttered before putting on a pair of shades. Lumabas nga lang ata ito para magpa-tan.

I shrugged, and sipped from the cup of coffee in my hand. Nasa may courtyard garden kami ngayon, sitting on the lovely white chairs that complimented the landscape.

The sun was out on this lovely afternoon, at maaliwalas ang paligid. Shrubs in the garden were neatly trimmed and flowers scattered throughout in wonderful arrangement. Kung dito ba naman kami tumira ni Lola Rosalina sa castillo, feeling ko ibang-iba ang naging buhay namin from what we experienced in drift town.

I sighed, placing the cup of coffee back on the table before leaning back on my chair para panoorin ang tatlo na mag-laro. Si Damien naman ang pinagdidiskitahan nung dalawa, which made me chuckle.

"You know... I have a brother." Madison speaks out suddenly, snapping me from my own train of thoughts.

Napatingin ako sa kaniya, forehead creased and eyebrows burrowed together. She still had her shades on and was leaning back on her chair too; head upwards facing the sun.

"What are you talking about?" I ask, slightly annoyed if ever na pagtitripan nanaman niya ako. "Nababaliw ka na ba?"

She falls silent before speaking up once again.

"I have a brother... a drift."

The words slice through me at an instant, encapsulating all of my attention to her.

I open my mouth but no words come out. What does she want me to say? Does she want me to pity her?

"His name is Stefan." She continues, not moving from her position. Tanging ang mga labi lang niya ang gumagalaw para makapagsalita.

"As a child, my parents always wanted a son." She then snickers, scoffing at her own words. "They tried, for seven years of marriage; only to be disappointed to know that they were having a baby girl — not the son that they expected."

A moment of silence ensued the both of us as we watched the three from a distance.

"Even until I grew older, gusto pa rin nilang magkaroon ng anak na lalaki. He'll be better in the family business, they say; better than the little girl they're forced to live their life with."

"They didn't have luck though; finding out that my mother couldn't bear to have another child. There was something wrong with her uterus — I couldn't quite understand it then at eight years old. Pero bakit ganun, ako parin yung sinisi nila?"

"Bakit ba daw hindi nalang kasi ako naging lalaki? Wala tuloy magmamana ng negosyo nila; wala daw silang maaasahan pagdating sa battle. I was just a dainty, useless girl to their eyes."
