chapter 6 ➵ battle

The two kids eventually bumped into Hagakure, who uttered out a cry of relief upon seeing them. She was quick to engulf Himura into a tight hug and jumped up and down, bringing the peach-haired girl along with her.

"Thank god you guys are here!" she cried out as Himura internally panicked in her hold. "I was so afraid of those villains that I had to hide in a pile of rubble somewhere, but they're gone now. I'm so glad..!"

Himura gently gave her a few pats on her back (which she eventually found after a bit of struggling), and gave her a comforting smile. "I'm glad you're safe too, Hagakure," cooed the peach-haired girl.

"We should return to Thirteen. The others might have managed to come back as well," Todoroki spoke up, looking out. Himura followed his gaze, seeing a puff of smoke appearing at the top of the large stairs.

Himura frowned. "What's happening?"

"I-It's All Might!" Hagakure exclaimed, upon spotting the familiar Pro Hero emerging from the smoke.

He doesn't look too happy at all, thought Himura.

"Todoroki's right. We should go," Himura urged, beginning to jog ahead of them. She didn't know what was going on, but she felt that it would be better to take a furtive peek for herself.

The trio began to run towards a group of trees and greenery, slowly seeing the situation unfold. All Might swiftly traveled from the top of the stairs to where the villains were, beating the remaining criminals that Aizawa was fighting against. In the blink of an eye, he took Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta from the unfamiliar blue-haired villain.

Himura slowed down to a stop upon seeing Aizawa. She could tell by the ground underneath him and his unmoving body that he was unconscious—and severely injured, at that. Her heart sank.

"Why are you stopping, Himura?" Hagakure queried, feeling worried for the peach-haired girl.

"Aizawa-sensei. He's..."

She watched as Midoriya, Asui, and Mineta picked up the wounded teacher. They hastily fled the scene without stopping. 

All Might began to attack the blue-haired man, but a large creature absorbed the blow. The children that stood within the greenery felt a strong gush of wind brushing against their bodies, baffling them. Himura gaped at the creature's physical prowess, as it seemed to be on par with the Pro Hero's. She nervously clasped her hands together.

As soon as All Might performed a suplex on the creature, a dark warp portal appeared under it, engulfing it inside and having it reappear under All Might's back. It wrapped its hands around the sides of his stomach and pierced into one side, causing it to bleed out.

Himura took an abrupt step forward, feeling a wave of fear overwhelm her. She wanted to help All Might—his face contorted into one of pain and he seemed to be struggling to get out of its grip. It made her feel conflicted. Was it okay for her to interfere?

Her heart quickened. She felt it beating harshly against her chest.

Her number one idol, the one who inspired her to want to be a hero, was dying. Even if heading out there meant suicide, she'd rather try and save him than do nothing at all. Now's not the time to be cowardly.

I need to make sure not to act too recklessly either. All I have to do is find an opening and quietly disarm that creature...

"Hagakure, Todoroki. I— I'm going to go out there," she stammered, her gaze fixated on the scene before her. 

"Are you crazy?!" Hagakure exclaimed, but tried to sound hushed. "Do you even have a plan against those villains?"

Himura, turning to look at her, could only smile warmly. Then ever so slowly, she turned her head and began to move forward. "I'll be okay. Just get to safety, alright?"
