Friday, After School
"Whoa..." Uraraka gasped, looking outside of Class 1-A. "What's going on?!"
A large group of people stood outside of the classroom, looking in. They didn't seem to be moving away. Himura quietly sipped on her carton of orange juice, not particularly minding the horde—she wanted nothing more than to go home and sleep.
"No way out! What're they here for?!" Mineta exclaimed.
Bakugo stood besides the grape boy for a moment. "Isn't it obvious? They're scoping out the competition, small fry. Makes sense that they'd want a look before the sports festival, cuz we're the kids who survived the attack."
Bakugo walked towards the door. His hands were contently sitting in the pockets of his pants, and a calm expression graced his features. Himura stared at him with raised brows.
"Is— Is Bakugo normally like this..?" Himura whispered. She had always seen him as an explosive character—seeing him so calm and collected again was a bit uncanny.
"That's him on a good day," Midoriya sighed.
"How do you brighten his day?" Himura asked.
"No one knows," he replied.
"Darn."
"No point though," mumbled Bakugo, continuing his little speech. "Move aside, you damn extras."
"Can we please not call those we don't even know 'extras'?!" Iida shouted, making a chopping motion with his arms.
"It's true. We came to get a look, but you sure are modest," said a student in the back. His tone was dripping in sarcasm. "Are all the kids in the hero course like this one?"
"Huh?!"
The student stepped towards the front of the crowd, revealing himself. The moment she saw him, Himura could only associate him with a single name:
Panda-eyes.
"Gotta say, I'm a little disillusioned if this is what you're offering," Panda-eyes continued, rubbing the back of his neck for a moment. "Those of us who didn't make the hero course are stuck in general studies and such. There're quite a few of us. Did you know that?
"Depending on the results of the sports festival ... They might consider transferring us into the hero course. I understand that the reverse is also possible for you," He scoffed. "Scoping out the competition? For a general studies kid like me, this'll be the perfect opportunity to knock you off your pedestals. Consider this a declaration of war."
"HEY. I'm from Class 1-B, next door!" exclaimed another student, making himself known. His eyelashes were the first thing Himura saw, and she marveled at the sight. "Heard you guys fought some villains. Wanted to find out more, but, all I'm seeing is this arrogant bastard!
"You better not make fools of the hero course at this thing!" he barked, startling the students. He was just so incredibly loud, it was almost difficult to follow what he was saying—but he was still understood nonetheless.
For a moment, everyone was still. Bakugo eventually began to push his way through the crowd, prompting Kirishima to yell at him for making Class 1-A look bad.
"I don't give a crap," was all the hedgehog boy said. "I'm heading for the top. Why should I care?"
And then, among the hushed chatters of the students, he pushed his way through the crowd and left. No one else made any declarations of war, or any statements that were demeaning in any way—and so, that was that. Everyone parted and continued to do their thing, and school officially ended for the day.
