Early next morning Wally woke to the sound of laughter and the smell of fresh pancakes. Taking in his surrounding he nearly had a panic attack at the familiar yet unfamiliar room. Events from yesterday finally caught up to his slow mind, causing a small smile to light up his face.
Jumping from the bed he rushed through his morning routine. If he thought about it it almost felt like he never left. It gave him a sense of longing to have his old life back. But he wouldn't change his new one for the world.
Running down the stairs he was instantly greeted by his Uncle Barry with a hug while Iris and Selina stopped their conversation to scold him for using his powers in the house. All he did was smile before piling his plate full of his favorite foods.
Everything.Sitting down in between Selina and Iris, effectively cutting off their conversation, he started eating. Noticing the silence that fell over them he slowly glanced up. Fork halfway to his mouth before he had the manners to close it.
Glancing at Selina he saw the sympathetic yet hopeful look. Glancing at Iris and Barry he saw hesitation and hopefulness on their faces.
Naturally, his thoughts went to the worst. They all looked hopeful, but the difference was Iris and Barry seemed almost scared. Especially Barry, while Selina just gave him a sad yet happy smile."What's going on?" He asked instead of jumping to conclusions.
"Well, Wally, we were discussing if-"
"Would you like to go on a run with me Kid?" Barry interrupted Iris's well-thought response.
Iris glared at the man while Barry either didn't notice or didn't care. To busy staring at Wally with a hopeful expression, almost bouncing on his feet.Wally felt a smile creep onto his face before a frown took place. Barry instantly mirrored Wally's expression change with a confused look.
"People will see me... If words out that Kid Flash is back then it wouldn't be long till the league got word of it." Explained Wally soberly."Maybe that's a good thing," started Selina. Wally gave her a perplexed look before she started talking again. "You can't hide from them-from him forever."
"I'm not-"
"Wally." At Selina's stern look Wally slumped over with a sigh.
"He's not the only reason why," he began to argue giving Selina a pointed look which she obviously ignored.
"I know that and my offer still stands. Hiding is not a fun lifestyle Kitten. Trust me. Go out and run and be free. I know you miss it."At Wally's conflicted look Barry decided to jump in. "Come on Kid. It'll be just like old times. Besides, I miss having my roadrunner beside me."
Wally snorted at the old nickname given to him when he first started out as Kid Flash.
Looking up with a bashful smile, "do you guys still have my suit?"
Barry's grin was the only answer he needed.~~~~~~~
Feeling the wind in his hair Wally let out a whoop of joy. Flash glanced at his partner with a fond smile before sharply cutting left, Wally not too far behind him. He slowed down enough for Wally to catch up.
"That was mean. I'm a bit rusty ya know?"
Flash laughed, "I have to keep you on your toes Kid."Kid Flash smiled fondly at the Flash before a scream interrupted his thoughts. Glancing at one another they both took off in the direction of the screams. Stopping short they saw Captain Cold and Heatwave firing at the police and bystanders.
"So this is my welcome back gift? You guys couldn't do something less predictable." Chastised Kid Flash a grin blossoming over his face at the shocked looks of the police, bystanders, and the two villains.
Both villains' grin grew, causing Kid Flash's smile to falter.
"Welcome back Baby Flash!" Greeted Captain Cold loudly with the biggest smile they've ever seen on his face. Glancing at Heatwave, he saw the man tying to hold in his laughter. A feeling of dread passed through his system while a silenced hush fell over the group.
