Insecurity

Chapter 2

Ella's POV:

I walked down the halls looking at everyone whisper to each other. I wonder what they were whispering about?

I walked on and got in a daze. All of a sudden, I bumped into a boy. All my stuff fell to the ground. I went down to pick it up and so did he. No one has ever done that before.

We both stood up and I finally looked at him. I have never seen him before. Is he new?
"Thank you." I whispered.
"Oh, no problem." He replied.

I started walking again. Suddenly I heard someone yelling. I turned around to see who it was.
"What is your name?" He asked.
"Ella." I replied.

I forgot to get his name. Oh well! I will find out soon enough.

Lucas's POV:

I looked at her as she walked away. I saw people staring at her and now they are staring at me. Why are they staring?

I walk into my homeroom. I see Ella sitting in the first row. She seems alone. I decide to sit beside her. She glances at me and then looks away. I start to chuckle.

The teacher starts talking. "Hello everyone! I would like to introduce someone to our class." She said.

She points at me.
"This is Lucas Dodd. He came all the way here from Mississippi." She said.
I looked over at Ella. She was smiling.

Ella's POV:

As I heard his name, I smile crept up on my face. So, he is new. That's why he helped me pick up my books. He hasn't met anyone else yet.

I left the class and went to PE. He was there too. I walked out of the locker room.

We started picking out teams for volleyball. I was the last one picked again. I stood in my group and saw Lucas. He was in my group.

We all got in formation. The ball started coming toward me again. I cringed knowing that I would get hit again.

The ball was a foot away from my face. All of a sudden, a hand swooped across me. The ball was gone. I looked behind me.

Standing there was Lucas. He was smiling. He mouthed the words you're welcome to me. I couldn't help but smile.
