Ella's POV:

I walked into the house after school. It was so cold, I shivered. Dad was sitting on the couch.
"Sweetie. Come and sit beside me. We need to talk." He said patting the couch.

I walked over to the couch and sat down.
"What's up dad?" I asked with an unsure voice.
"Remember your mom?" He asked.
"Yeah? She kinda gave birth to me, and then ran out on us at the age of two." I said bluntly.
"Well, she'll be over here in a little bit." He said casually.
"What! The woman who left us! The woman who cheated on you. Why?" I yelled.
"She has something, very important to say. I've been talking to her for a few weeks now." He implied.
"Whatever!" I stormed away to my room.

I was on my bed reading The Very Hungry Catapillar. I know it's a children's book, but I haven't read it in a long time.

I heard a door open and shut. I heard a woman's voice. I went to the door and put my ear to it.
"Yeah. She's in her room. I'll go get her." I heard my dad say.

I heard footsteps coming to my door. Getting louder and louder. I backed away from the door and jumped on my bed. I opened my book real quick.

The door opened to see my dad. I did a quick smile and then went back down to my book.
"Hey. Your mom's out there. Give her a chance." He said with a sad puppy face.
"Fine!" I said finally giving in.

I walked out into the living room and saw my mom sitting on the couch. She had long, blond hair. She also had too much makeup. To be honest, she looked ratchet.

She was wearing a skimpy dress. I'm surprised my dad let her in here. She stood up and gave me a hug. It was awkward.
"Hey baby." She said.
"Hi?" I said confused.

Why did she call me baby? I'm not her baby. We are more like acquaintances. No! Not even that!

We all sat down. She kept on looking at me and smiling.
"So how's school?" She asked.
"Fine now." I said irritated.
"You look very pretty." She said with a big smile.
"Okay. Let's cut to the chase. Why are you here?" I blurted.
"I've been in the dark for 7 years. I've done drugs. I'm not proud of it. Last year I started to go to therapy. I missed you so much. I needed my baby back. And my husband. I got better. I got my life back in order. So now I'm here. Can you please forgive me?" She said.
"I have rules. You only get to see me when I say so. One mistake, and you're out of my life. Do you understand?" I replied.
"Oh yes!" She had a big smile.
"I don't know." My dad said looking at the ground.
"Richard, I have something to tell you." She said worried.
"What is it?" He looked up.
"I heard about you going to jail. I felt so bad because I know you started drinking because I left you. So I bailed you out of jail. After I bailed you out, I started doing drugs. I felt so bad. I left you because I needed to find myself. I found out that to be me, I need you." She smiled.

My dad gave her a hug.
"I love you so much." He said.
"I love you too." She said.
"Great! Move in!" He said with a smile.
"Okay."

No. No. No. It didn't take long for him to give in. I'm going to fight first before I give in. I'm staying strong!
