Ella's POV:As I walked out of the gym, Lucas ran up beside me. He had a big smile on his face.
"Hi!" He said.
"Hello?" I replied.
"What is your favorite color?" He asked.
"Ummmm, yellow?" I replied.
"Mine too!" He said.
"That's amazing." I said.
"You want to be friends?" He asked.
"Sure." I said.We walked in the lunchroom. I sat down, and he sat down right beside me.
Everybody was looking at us. I heard someone say Who is sitting with that freak? That made me mad."So, why does everyone look at you? You don't have to answer!" He said.
Should I tell him? Might as well. He's going to hate me anyways.
"When I was younger, my dad murdered someone because he was drunk and angry. He went to jail for a month. Someone bailed him out. I don't know who though." I said.
"Wow! I'm so sorry." He said with sympathy.
"Thanks." I said. I was shocked. He's still sitting there.
"What class do you go to next?" He asked.
"Art."
"Me too!"We walked to Art together. We talked on the way there. It felt good to talk to someone again. I missed it a lot.

When I got home, my dad hugged me. I thought it was weird. I looked around the house. There were no beer bottles anywhere.
"Dad? What's going on?" I asked.
"I'm so sorry for what I've done to you. I'm going to quit drinking. I'm going to an AA meeting tomorrow." He said.
"That's great." I said not very optimistic.Today was a good day. I just wasn't sure if it was going to last.
