KABANATA 03

Surprised

Nakakainggit. That's what I feel seeing my teammates hugging their family who proudly welcomed them after the training. How I wish my dad can do it, but I know he can't. And I understand why. His health is much more important than this.

I decided to turn my back and start getting my luggage para makauwi na at mabisita ko na si Daddy sa hospital. I'm excited to tell this to daddy.

I blew a loud breath bago ko sinimulang hilahin ang bagahe ko para maghintay ng taxi.

"Delaneeeeey! Oh my God!"

May nakasulat doon na 'Congratulations to the new Air force of the family, Second Lieutenant Delaney Adair Monroeville!'

I didn't expect it.

"Tita! I missed you... Marianne, I missed the two of you!" 'di pa rin makapaniwala na usal ko. I happily hugged Tita and Marianne, naluluha ako dahil sa tuwa.

I beamed at her and smile widely.

"I really am! I didn't expect this!" Marianne laughed at me.

"Congrats, Hija. We are so proud of you." Tita Metchelle hugged me again.

"Thank you, Tita... How's Dad?" agad na tanong ko. Tita Metchelle's smile gets wider as she pointed our car using her lips.

"It's really you. You made it!" naluluhang saad ko dahilan ng mahinang tawa nito dahil sa reaction ko.

"I miss you so much. Congratulations, Hija. Daddy is so proud of you," bulong ni Daddy and he kissed my temple.

A lone tear escape in my eyes pero agad ko rin iyong hinawi. That was a tear of joy!

"I missed you too, so much, Daddy," mahinang sambit ko, pinipigilan ang sariling 'wag humikbi.

I'm strong. And crying isn't my thing!

"Let's go so we can start the party now?" halakhak ni Daddy at tinawag na si Tita Metchelle at Marianne.

Habang nasa biyahe, 'di ko mapigilang 'di mapangiti. My dad is doing fine. And this is the best gift for me. My father's health. It was all worth it dahil pagkatapos ng training ay okay na si Daddy.

At first, I just want to become a soldier. But as days goes on and the training becomes harder, it motivates me more. The harder the training, the courageous I become. Kaya napagdesisyonan kong ipagpatuloy ang training at maging isang Air Force. I want to explore all the difficult trainings that I'm going to face onwards.

"Ate Laney, how does it feel to be trained like a tiger?" Marianne curiously asked me while we're having our lunch in our mansion.

"Hmm... It was difficult, but fulfilling once you succeed." I shrugged my shoulders to Marianne that made my father laugh.
