Heart of a Pilot

This journey has been unreal. A lot of luck involved with hitting a pilot shortage wave to propel my career and I'm beyond thankful for that. But I want to focus on the younger aviation generation. There and so many signs of a future shortage on the horizon and think now is the best time to take advantage of that. It doesn't matter your age, trust me. I hadn't even considered being a pilot until my freshman year in college. It was the best decision I ever made thou, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. For anything that's considering getting into aviation and I tell everyone this, make sure you're getting into it for all the right reasons.

Because flights benefits pay, days off, vacation, all that is great and gets better with time, but you have to be in love with flying. I encourage anyone who's thinking about aviation at all to head out to your local flight school and go on a 'discovery flight.' See what it's all about. The industry is full of ups and downs, like many, but you just can't beat the ups in the aviation world.

"D*mn! Sheʼs so cool but hot at the same time!" namamanghang saad ni Anthony. Agad sumama ang mukha ko dahil sa sinabi nito. Nakatanaw ito sa mga airforce na kakababa lang sa army chopper na pinapalipad ng isang babaeng piloto.

"Ang ganda niya!" I hissed at Anthony and throw him my death glare.

"Huwag mong pagtripan 'yang airforce na 'yan, Anthony," nagbabanta kong saad. Anthony look at me, confused. I glared at him.

"I didnʼt do anything, Captain. Ina-appreciate ko lang 'yong tao ei. Nambabakod ka na agad ah!" Anthony teased and laughed at me kaya inilingan ko na lang ito at sinamaan ulit nang tingin.

"I know you kaya tigilan mo ako. Tigilan mo rin ang pilotong 'yon, Officer Cohan!" I warned him kaya mas lalong lumakas ang tawa nito sa akin that irritates me even more.

Sa daming babaeng nakapalibot sa akin dahil sa klase ng trabaho ko ay ni hindi pa ako kailanman napatitig nang ganoʼn katagal sa isa man sa kanila. She has this kind of intimidating air.

I saw and met a lot of women airforce pero sa kanya lang talaga ako nakaramdam ng kakaiba. She gets anyones attention without even twirling her fingers.

"Hi, Iʼm Captain Sullivan-"

"I am not asking."

First attempt ko palang na maka-usap ito ay failed na agad. Ni hindi man lang ito lumingon sa gawi ko para tingnan ako. Kaya laking gulat ko nang napadpad ito sa eroplanong pinapalipad ko. Halata pa ang gulat na nakapaskil sa mukha nito dahil siya ring paglabas ko galing sa flight deck.

"An airforce in the plane I am maneuvering?" I asked confused. She just looked at me emotionless.

"Iʼm here to check the plane."

D*mn! Sheʼs so hot but her voice was d*mn cold!

"Captain Santana Yadiel Sullivan," kinakabahan kong pakilala. Baka kasi e-snob na naman ako nito tulad kanina.

Agad tumaas ang mga kilay nito na mas lalong nagpakaba sa akin.

"Lieutenant Monroeville, Captain Sullivan."

I licked my lower lip. Inisip ko na agad na mapapahiya na naman ako dahil mukhang hindi talaga interesado sa akin. Para akong nabunutan nang tinik sa dibdib dahil nagpakilala rin ito sa wakas.

I tried to start a conversation, but this woman seems so elusive. I was intimated to start a conversation with her.

"Seems like you ainʼt impressed by me," I playfully said, nagbabaka sakaling pansinin ako nito. Agad tumaas ang kaliwang kilay nito sa akin nang mag-angat ito nang itngin.
