Chapter 06: Clarity

A MONTH LATER

beep beep beep...!

"Arghhh..." she growled while her right arm reach through the alarm clock and pressed the button to stop alarming. After a second of peace surrounded her room, she woke up - both eyes shake by her both hands - cleaning the excess dirt around her face. She get up and stretched, feeling the tension of her muscles between her shoulder blades and belly.

She let out a deep sigh and walk towards the mirror placed beside her wardrobe; pale skin, petite figure, waist length black strands of long hair - It's been a month since Ashley left in Lan Wangji's time and she deeply missed him.

Even there are short moments that makes her feel that she and Lan Wangji are close, she couldn't be in fact that she felt happy when she got home... but in the inside, she felt she is shattered into pieces.

Oh that's right, the trouble in her time... Lan Qiren instructed Lan Wangji to put her back in time so she could be safe from danger, but she knew deep inside that she is not. During her stay in her time, she could feel eyes all around her and the unraveling memories of the forgotten past bothered her.

"I hope they are all alright..." she mutter to herself as a voice suddenly exclaimed, "Ashley! Breakfast!" a sound of her grandma make her smile as she shake her head and let out a deep sigh, You can do this, Ash... staying like what you always did... forget first about Lan Zhan... she thought to herself as she went out of her room and walk downstairs,"Coming!" she exclaimed before she sat down and ate her breakfast.

Thoughts of the events in Gusu Lan Sect and Lotus Pier bothered her, she began to worry that Jiang Cheng and others' safety and she felt that it will not relief her if she didn't know they are all safe.

After the meal, she went to her room alone. She wondered for a couple of minutes how she will able to go on with her life now that she is back. Yes, she felt happiness when she came back...oh how she noticed that her sister found her lay down in the floor, unconscious.

The music!

She grabbed her flute - not from Lan Xichen, from herself. A flashback of what it seemed yesterday brought in her mind, the melody before her unconsciousness bothered her...she finds the notes from that melody - assuming it was replaced by someone. Although, she never really knew much about music literature in the past, it seems she needs to get more answers.

And she had no choice but to play the music itself. If Lan Qiren is right about this melody combined with other notes...does that mean...? I can go back by playing it by myself? She thought as the unknown music played at the beginning looped inside her head.

"As Lan Xichen had said, the song of inquiry can be played to travel and back in time...so. It means there is a possibility I can travel since...someone enter in my time and did this to me..." she muttered as she deeply hope that she is right.

I miss Lan Zhan so much...but, in this case...I must not stay here and hide...I need to help them...I think It's what I am for she thought and positioned herself once more - stand straight, her right and left arm stance in a position as her lip touched the bit of her flute and began to play the music that started it all. As the music keeps playing, she felt the heavy feeling of her body as she fell down - fall into her deep slumber.
