Chapter 38: Unravel

YUNMENG CLAN LEADER JIANG WANYI walk across the entrance of Cloud Recesses, the sound of his footsteps can be heard and two cultivators guarding the entrance instantly noticed him with his soldiers behind him. The two cultivators bowed sooner when Jiang Cheng's figure near them.

He crossed his hand impatiently and spoke, "I am sent by Lan XiChen, this letter is the proof that he indeed sent me here to talk privately." one of the soldiers behind him came in front to show the envelope that shows a letter from XiChen himself.

"It is alright, Jiang gonzi, they knew." a voice replied and stared to see XiChen with Ashley already outside of Cloud Recesses. She waved at him, "It's been a while!" she spoke while Jiang Cheng look away, "Well, I heard that you answered ZeWu Jun...C-Congrats for the both of you..." he replied, Ashley suddenly realized what he said and stared at XiChen whose face and earlobe are already covered in red, "eh? y-you told him?!" she asked.

He nodded and stared at her, "He asked me about you, so I answered." Ashley felt so awkward to the point she hide behind XiChen's back, "Aiya..." he chuckled softly in response and stared back at Jiang Cheng, "Jiang-gonzi, come in." he obliged while Jiang Cheng stretch a small smile and walk inside alongside with his soldiers, "Nice, you remembered. It'll be quite rude if I watch you two cuddling the whole day am I?" he replied while he crossed his both arms in annoyance.

XiChen stretch a small smirk across his lips, to him, this man hasn't changed at all...perhaps when he will witness what fate has come upon him...

A light pat on his shoulder suddenly caught his attention, only to realized Ashley is calling him while he is in deep thought.

"You alright, XiChen?" she asked, his heart began to soften when he heard her called his name...which he can't wait to end this meeting to have a nice time together. He nodded in response and walk inside where the other Yunmeng clan followed them behind. Ashley on the other hand felt so much awkward and couldn't sink in on what was happening. Until, her modernized thoughts consume her whole even more.

Aiya...so that means...he is my boyfriend now?! are they familiar on this stuff or...not? she thought as they walk towards the main hall - WangXian, Lan Qiren and the others are waiting inside, she began to feel that this is like a scene from a movie where the all main characters plan on a huge and risky heist. Ashley chuckled at that thought, How strange... she silently muttered inside her mind.

"Miss Ashley, ZeWu Jun and...!" a voice called and all their stare began to caught Wen Qing who was about to give a herbal medicine to Shufu, Jiang Cheng's eyes widen when he saw Wen Qing alive...and well. The room became felt an awkwardly silent as they stared into both person who stared in such confusion yet a hidden longing. Jiang Cheng lose his cool and walk towards that person where he embrace her much to Wen Qing's surprise.

"W-Wen Qing..." he repeatedly spoke her name while his clutch against her, Wen Qing felt more warmth than ever. Memories of the past began to flooded her, where she rejected Jiang Cheng's proposal a hand of marriage to her. Tears began to stream down her both cheeks at the sudden reunion, she cannot hide these feeling she is keeping 16 years ago and she knew Jiang Cheng could feel the same as hers.

"J-Jiang Cheng..." she closed her eyes while she embraced him even more, Ashley and the others at the back became like a thin wall throughout the scene. Wei WuXian smiled in amusement for he longed to see that version of Jiang Cheng being a soft boi. Although, now everything is complicated, he can't help but wonder what will happen if Ashley didn't exist and the song's time travelling.

Will he and Lan Zhan changed in a different timeline?

Jiang Cheng break the embrace and stared at her feline beauty once more, "B-But how?" he stutter. Nie Huaisang fanned himself in embarrassment and replied, "L-Long story..." Jiang Cheng stared at him and back at Wen Qing - embracing her once more, he never knew or sink this sudden pace of events.. to him, it felt like a dream...and that dream where he never woke up.
