Chapter 28: Fake Protagonist

"YILING LAOZU WAS SUPPOSE TO BE DEAD BUT HE WAS RESURRECTED 16 YEARS LATER" Mrs. Qian explained the legend of Wei WuXian or known as the Yiling Patriarch. It was another day of history class for Ashley, 6 years passed after not going back, she felt less content.

What did I do? She silently ask herself. 6 years ago, she went back in her time without anything to explain to Lan Wangji nor the others. She thinks its's the only way to make things right, after learning the things she need to do due to using the Song of Inquiry, she spend 6 years studying it's use.

How?

During her venture with ZeWu Jun inside the forbidden library of Pavilion, they both spend their time reading and understanding the process of using the Song of Inquiry. She was known as Wei WuXian's reincarnation, so she needs to understand her situation better.

The book binding is color peach and, the pages seems to be new yet has already signs of aging. Ashley deduct the book and assume that it was recently place or someone used it before they do. To her, she personally found ZeWu Jun kind and helpful.

Without his help, will she able to make things right?

She even had a one on one talk with him, wherein she shared bits of the future to him. His eyes sparkled and you can see how he is active and listening to her every word she says. It seems the two became close after that, to her, she found ZeWu Jun interesting.

Ashley, "ZeWu Jun...are you already tired?" she gaze on his almost tired eyes, but Lan XiChen stretch a soft smile at her.

"I'm alright, we shall continue this tomorrow." He replied.

She yawned, "Yeah...I guess so..." she place the book beside the table and pull her both arms, stretching them both to create relaxation. Lan XiChen couldn't help but watch her, admittedly that he is somehow became interested to her.

Ashley let out a deep sigh, "ZeWu Jun, from what I said earlier...I am serious, I need to do to make things right...but, to be honest, I'm a bit anxious..."

"How so?" He asked.

Ashley, "I realized...maybe I feel a little bit maladaptive in the situation, my feelings to Lan Zhan might be infatuated only because I thought I am him..."

"Did Shufu told us that you're...?"

"I don't know...I have signs that I might be...but what if...? What if Master Lan is wrong about me?"

She added, "What if I'm just an ordinary girl who can slip in time?"

ZeWu Jun thought for a moment, "Well...it might be, Ashley, you should know that you don't have to do this part...I understand your feelings towards my brother,yet...are you sure?"

Ashley let out a soft chuckle, "are you worried about me, ZeWu Jun?"

Lan XiChen, "I do..."

She let out a soft laughter, "I never knew your worried that much, that means you like me?"

"H-Huh?" he asked, she never a blush in his both cheeks. Ashley on the other hand, felt uncomfortable when she asked that.

"Nah! I'm just jesting!" she replied. Unbeknownst to her, he felt embarrassed for that kind of question. Yet, during her stay, he grew to feel concern for her safety.

"You know...in my world, I was never considered as what you all assume to me." She let out a deep sigh.

"I grew to be an ordinary girl...and now, I'm in this world where I am the only one in the future exist, it seems...I learned a lesson after all." She added.
