Chapter 44: Truth Untold

XUE YANG SMIRK IN RESPONSE where his eyes focus on XingChen, deep down he knew that the song of inquiry changed the timeline on how they would originally meet, but besides...making XingChen blind would be very fun too. Yet, he silently curse Guangyao to ruin his fun...but he has a little faith on him.

on whatever he is planning...

"Oh? You realize now how many people and clan sect I killed, have you?!" he exclaimed while Wei WuXian and the other watch from behind, he notice how Song Lan is already gritted his teeth in anger. He wanted to show himself, but Wei WuXian refrained him.

Song Lan let out a deep sigh, "Wei gonzi...i think we should get out to save him..." he suggested while Wen Ning stared at him, "Should I go with him, Wei gonzi?" he asked. Wei WuXian thought of an idea, "Hmm...well here is what we are going to do."

Xue Yang pulled out his blade and point it towards XingChen, "Oh how honourable and gentle Xiao XingChen!" he let out a chuckle, "I must say...you grew fond of the girl even she lies to you?" he asked. Xiao XingChen knew that A-Qing was never blind, and to that, he grew to care for the girl.

As young as she is, he wanted to adopt and care her.

Xiao XingChen had this gut feeling that something sinister happened to him and A-Qing, but he cannot determined how or when...but for sure, he wanted to protect the young girl's life as long he lives. He didn't reply a word to Xue Yang who became irritated much more, "HAHAHAHA!! It is true then?! How pretentious!" he exclaimed not long before Wen Ning suddenly attack him.

Wei WuXian and the other junior cultivators went out in sight, Lan Wangji and Song Lan helped Wen Ning to fought Xue Yang while XingChen's widen his eyes in surprise, he had never expected to meet Wei WuXian for all these years. A-Qing suddenly walk towards him, "Daozhang!!" she exclaimed as she embraced the cultivator. XingChen stretch a soft smile and patted her head, "A-Qing...I am thankful your safe..."

"Xiao XingChen, we meet again...after 16 years." Wei WuXian spoke while XingChen stretch a soft smile, "It is indeed a while, Wei gonzi." he bowed not long when the fog of the town itself spread even more. Lan SiZhui exclaimed, "Hurry! Let's find some shelter!" Wei WuXian nodded and guide the juniors alongside with XingChen and A-Qing to find shelter.

"B-But how about them?!" Jingyi asked, "They know, Trust me!" Wei WuXian replied as he nodded - continuosly guiding the others towards a empty house founded by SiZhui and Ouyang ZiZhen.

The owner of the house they went for shelter doesn't live here anymore hence, the reason of its abandoned state. Dust filled every wall and floor. But in their current state, it's a perfect place to take shelter on. All of them sat on the floor, XingChen unsheathe his sword and sat while A-Qing sat beside him.

Wei WuXian stood and watch the three fought Xue Yang outside. In the midst of watching them, his eyes gaze down to observe his both hands only to realize they're being translucent.

The sun rises above Lotus Pier, Lan XiChen is the first to woke with Ashley sleeping beside him. She grew this weird habit where she cannot sleep if she cannot embrace him comfortably. Also, she loves it whenever they are in the moment of intimacy, he would always send butterfly kisses through her neck, which he loved it even more.

Today was the banquet held by Jin Guangyao and he couldn't help but felt this gut feeling that something isn't right. So, he silently reach his hand towards her head and lean across her ear,  "Ashley, it's time to wake up..." he whisper softly causing Ashley's eyes to slowly open. Exhaustion written in her features as she sat up and stretch her arms.

"Morning..." she reply, XiChen stretch a soft smile, "Morning, Jiang gonzi sent me your new robes for the banquet...and he wants to talk to you before we go." he said while he caress her hair. Ashley's cheeks flushed at the sudden act.

She patted his head, "Thank you." she lean close to his cheek and give him a smooch, XiChen never felt so much blushed even after receiving such that in any occasion.

"Should I assist you?" he asked, Ashley nodded but suddenly realized what he meant. She reach a pillow and throw at him, "Oh my! your shameless! it's early in the morning!" she exclaimed as XiChen let out a chuckle, "Hahaha I am just kidding." he replied. Ashley never been felt so awkward around him despite the fact they're acting as if they're a married couple.

And yeah, she ended up needing XiChen's help in wearing her robes...much to her embarrassment.

Wen Qing, the last remaining and a doctor of the Wen Clan never felt so much having a hard time getting along with Nie Huaisang, who became so much oblivious in instant, fanning himself to hide the embarrassment working with the female doctor, both of them sat in a carriage.

Nie Huaisang tried his hardest to initiate in a conversation, yet, there are times...he is talking to Wen Qing like he is talking a female version of Jiang Cheng which he wasn't surprised anymore. Wei Qing let out a deep sigh, "Are you sure that your spy is reliable in this information he is giving us?" she asked.

He stuttered, "Y-Yes...he helped me once to find out about Jin Guangyao..." he replied. She let out an another deep sigh, "Hmm better be, or i'll pinch you with my needles more than what I did to Wei WuXian in the past." she threaten the fragile huaisang.

"E-Eh?!" he stuttered, "I-I heard that you often do that to him..." he replied. Wen Qing rolled her eyes and ignore his reply not long the carriage stop all of the sudden.

Nie Huaisang became anxious, "W-Why the carriage stop??" he hid behind Wen Qing who unsheathe her sword, "Thankfully Wen Ning is not here..." she spoke, "Why?" Nie Huaisang asked.

She stared at him, "It'll be better so that you will be my bait instead of him." Nie Huaisang sweat in fear, "Y-You!" before he could even speak more, the door of the carriage opened.

Wen Qing tighten the hold of her sword while Huaisang, defenseless and a fan is only the thing he brought to their journey hid behind her much to Wen Qing's disappointment.

Both of them realized it was one of the Jin sect disciples already armed all swords towards them. Wen Qing became confused of what is happening, she started to stare at Huaisang.

"What the fuck?! What did you do?!" she exclaimed while Huaisang shake his head, "W-What?! I didn't do anything! The spy I sent....he...wait..." he reasoned but only to realized the situation there are in.

"Wen Qing, the last remaining person of the Wen bloodline and Nie Huaisang, the Nie sect leader...come with us." a man spoke as both of them let out a deep sigh in defeat, of course she can't put her guard up now all disciples of Jin sect are surrounded them.

The man who spoke walk towards them only to realize who it was, "You!" she exclaimed as the man with a mask took it off...he was none other than GusuLan's past disciple, Su She.

Ashley and XiChen successfully went towards the Jin sect where the banquet would be held, Jiang Cheng reject their invitation to join because he need to find Jin Ling who went to Yi City with Wei WuXian unbeknownst to them.

Although, she had this gut feeling that somehow there are things or outcome that she missed. But thankfully, XiChen is there to comfort her to ease her unspeakable doubts. Wearing the robes Jiang Cheng gave her, she honestly get used to live in such era even there are times she completely forgot her role in her own time.

Honestly, this is her first to visit the Jin Clan sect since she already visited Yunmeng (Lotus Pier), GusuLan sect (Cloud Recesses) and Nie sect. So, perhaps she will get used to it. Not long when they were about to enter in the main hall, they were stopped by the Jin sect disciples who already point all their swords towards them.

"Welcome Miss Ashley and ZeWu Jun..." Jin Guangyao walk towards them who welcome them with a smirk already  across his lips.
