It was (Y/n)'s first day at Karasuno High School- and she was beyond excited. She could feel the anticipation of the day ahead of her fueling her as she ran down the stairs to the kitchen. Quickly grabbing the slices of toast from the table awaiting her and shouting goodbyes as she ran out of the house and down the streets of the Miyagi prefecture.
"Have a good day sweetie!" (M/n) called out in the distance. Sighing at her daughters antics as she continued to wash the plates at the sink, with a small smile gracing her lips.
(Y/n) couldn't stop herself beaming upon reaching the front gates of Karasuno- it felt like some dream or distant reality that she hadn't quite grasped. As soon as she saw the Karasuno team at the nationals on T.V she had been set upon coming here. She saw many people, closer to her height (unfortunately on the short side) reaching their full potential playing different positions other than the libero from the Karasuno Volleyball team- and hoped she could achieve the same. Munching greedily on the toast in her hand, she slowly turned towards what appeared to be another student (almost as excited as she was) cycling down the street at cray, almost inhumane speeds. She paused for a moment, her eyes widening as she noticed how the student failed to slow down and just barely missed being run over by a bike- on her first day!
"Hey you moron! I know I'm short but did you seriously not see me? I want to live long enough to join the volleyball club!" (Y/n) complained relentlessly, puffing her chest out confidently and crossing her arms over her chest defiantly.
The boy stared at her before apologizing frantically, and now up close, (Y/n) noticed the boy was only a little bit taller than her. He had bright orange, tuffs of hair spiking out and big, brown, hazel eyes that were more like pools of caramel than irises. A big sheepish smile plastered on his face. (Y/n) could tell she would like this kid- his personality seemed to be demanding attention.
"Sorry, I was in a daze. I couldn't believe I was actually here. And you play volleyball too?!" the boy exclaimed happily, jumping up and down at the revelation. (Y/n) resisted the urge to smile- shaking her head at his excitement.
"What position do you play!?!"
(Y/n)'s eyes darkened for a moment, which the boy seemed completely oblivious about, before she regained her composure.
"Libero."
"Huh? You don't seem all too happy about that...Oh wait! I haven't introduced myself!" the boy grinned enthusiastically.
'Wow... This guy short has a short attention spam.' (Y/n) thought to herself, sweat-dropping slightly at the thought but quickly shook it off at the boys introduction.
"I'm Shōyō Hinata."
"(L/n), (Y/n)" You announced, bowing slightly to show respect. "And I think we'll be great friends!"
"Sure" (Y/n) shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly.

You finally arrived at class 1-5, after a lot of walking around and misjudgments, and entered the classrooms. Eyes immediately being drawn to you, analyzing your every move- as expected of a class primarily for advanced learners. Despite your 'addiction' as your mother calls it to volleyball- you always managed to keep your grades up. Your parents were always surprised when they received your report, considering how much time you spent playing volleyball and your lack of study. But every time you simply shrugged your shoulders and deemed it 'pot luck.'
However, you noticed one student in particular. Blonde hair, black glasses and what looked like a bad attitude. Sarcasm seemed to practically slide off his tongue as if he'd been making sarcastic comments since he's been born and for some reason it aggravated to you to no end.
He, as if sensing your gaze, looked towards you and smirked. A shiver ran down your spine and you could already tell:
You hated this guy already.
