You were walking with Nishinoya and the two of you were quickly approaching the school gates. The entire way there you were taking quick glances of Nishinoya, blushing when he caught you and laughing it off. You couldn't help it-  Nishinoya was too attractive. Oh! And talking about volleyball of course. Both of you were obsessed with it and you were just happy to have someone to talk about volleyball with! Hitoka was a great friend, and although had a interest in what you were saying didn't really know anything about the sport itself. You couldn't help but think she'd be a great manager- especially with her good ideas she comes up with in difficult situations; you'd have to try and convince her to consider it.

"Hey (Y/n)!" Nishinoya called, waving his hand in front of your face and you blushed in embarrassment.

"Oh I'm sorry, I was spacing out."

"Yeah, you were! You've been doing it the entire way here are you okay?" Nishinoya questioned. You smiled at his nervous expression; you was sure he was concerned and you couldn't ignore the flutter of the butterflies in your stomach at the notion.

"Yeah. Just a bit tired after yesterday. That practice was brutal!"

He laughed at you. And you couldn't believe how pure his laughter was- was it physically possible for someone to be this perfect?

"Well.. We did practice a long time. I can't remember the last time I've practiced that long. Actually, I think it may of been during my suspension as it was pretty boring... But it was no where near as fun as yesterday's practice."

You nodded silently, understanding that the reason for his suspension must be pretty personal.

"(Y/n), Nishinoya hey!" A voice, you recognized as Hinata's, called out behind you. You giggled at his antics, quickly turning round with a smile to greet him. Rising your hands to do a high ten; jumping slightly to reach his height effectively and you could faintly hear Kageyama's snickering but chose to ignore it.

"Oh hey Hinata!" you greeted kindly. Turning to Kageyama and giving him a glare.

"Hey guys" Nishinoya greets. Kageyama and Hinata share a knowing look, before Hinata eagerly asked if you were turning up to 'morning practice.'

"Morning practice? Do you guys have endless amounts of energy?" you laughed. Kageyama stared at you questioningly, and you just stared at him with a confused expression on your face. You could never read him - and that aggravated you. You could usually read people pretty well, but Kageyama was a mystery to you.

"Don't the girls have morning practice?" Kageyama asked- and he generally seemed pretty interested. You supposed he found anything related to volleyball interesting. Nishinoya looked between you two and turned to Hinata.

"Don't you think these guys can be pretty intense?" Hinata nodded and you glared at them both, causing them to cower away slightly in fear, before responding to Kageyama. The boys both sighed a breath of relief as your attention returned to Kageyama but Nishinoya found himself feeling jealous at the notion- you should just look towards him with that look in your eye- and he found himself surprised at the sudden thought.

"Kind of, but it's more of dicussing and creating new tactics and switching up starting line-ups and stuff..." you admitted sheepishly.

"That makes sense actually. To be honest we mess around too much- mostly due to this dumbass here!"

"Hey!" Hinata protested, pouting.

You laughed at the two, some things never changed.

It was finally lunch time, and you were eager to make your way to the third year corridor to find Asahi. Quite a few people gave you weird looks- after all a first year in the third year corridor was a pretty strange thing to see; but you shook them off determinedly. You had to do this for Nishinoya. However, as you made your way through the corridor, a familiar looking figure came into view. You were relieved, feeling a little less like a fish out of water, quickly calling his name.

"Sugawara!"

He turned around at the sound of your voice, smiling as you approached him happily. "Hey (Y/n), what's up?"

You grinned at him- you really looked up to Sugawara before responding: "I'm trying to find Asahi- I think he needs some words of motivation. Nishinoya told me what happened" you admitted quietly. Sugawara seemed surprised at your words.

"He told you? Hmm... That's surprising. He is pretty touchy about the subject."

You let out a silent 'oh' and Sugawara chuckled. "I'm on my way there- you can join. I'll introduce you."

"Thank you Sugawara!" you exclaimed happily, skipping alongside him. However you suddenly became nervous as you looked in the classroom filled with third years. These guys were huge! Sugawara must've noticed your expression, and assured you not to worry. You smiled at him, feeling more comfortable after his reassurance and followed after him as he made his way towards who you supposed was Asahi.

"Hey Suga, it's been awhile hasn't it?"  He looked in your direction with a curious yet kind glance and you suddenly became even more nervous than you was a while ago. "Asahi" Sugawara acknowledged, he looked over to your direction and you introduced yourself, as a friend, smiling towards him. He seemed a little shocked at your kindness, but quickly shook it off as Sugawara carried on talking.

"We'd really like you to come back to the team. Nishinoya just came back from suspension you know..."

"Really?" Asahi questioned, smiling at the news even more if possible. "That's great news, it makes me feel a lot better knowing Nishinoya's there to back you up." You resisted the urge to comment, wanting Sugawara to say his piece to his old friend.

"But that's how we feel about you! When you call for the ball, everyone knows they're in good hands!"

"Look, I appreciate the thought; but if I were to join the team I'd just hold you guys back like last time..."

"Hear me out!" Sugawara exclaimed, uncharacteristically slamming his hands on the desk determinedly and you silently cheered him on.

'Go Sugawara!'

"We've got this amazing decoy, and as much as I hate to say it... The new first year setter is great too. You wouldn't have to carry the whole team anymore!" Sugawara explained, before continuing. "We've got some great tactics now, if we just had you and Nishinoya back then maybe Karasuno could be unstoppable again! Look we need our Ace more than ever- things are just starting to get better!"

"Asahi, it's time for career counselling" another third year informed, before making his way down the corridor. You sighed at the guys antics- it's as if he didn't even want to be here. In fact- you wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

"Look- I know you had a difficult match against Dateko- Nishinoya told me all about it. But it isn't the same as it was before- you're not alone on the court. There's six players on the court for a reason; no one can carry their entire team- it's impossible! Now, you can finally break through the block with the amazing setters around you like Sugawara and truly see the other side of the court, free of blockers: just you, the ball and the court. Isn't the specialty of the Ace that you can break through any block if you put your mind to it? You've hit a rough patch and gave up- but people need you! It's your decision to make- but something tells me you still love volleyball. And if you do- it's still worth fighting for" you exclaimed, with a sudden fire in your eyes. Both of them were staring at you; in fact you could feel many eyes on you but you ignored them. This was for Nishinoya's sake- and you weren't about to let him down.

"I've said my piece- it's your decision to make. I just hope you make the right one for you." You left the room, leaving Asahi and Sugawara to finish and walked straight passed Hinata and Kageyama who were staring at you, wide-eyed and mouths agape. You laughed at them, making a comment about attracting flies before continuing your stroll down the corridor. It was nothing new for you; you were accustomed to saying exactly what you thought and getting stared at for it; but you didn't care. If making Asahi return to the court would make Nishinoya happy. You'll convince him somehow.
