You tried again the next day; determined to help Nishinoya anyway you can. Walking down that same third year corridor with the same look in your eye. If you could somehow convince him to visit for one practice- then maybe he'd consider it properly. But although he was a big guy- he seemed kind of soft. Not your typical third year volleyball player at all; and you giggled at the thought. However, by the time you got there you noticed Hinata and Kageyama already there and smiled. They seemed just as determined as you- but for different reasons you supposed.
"Yeah it's nice of you to think of me and everything- and I can tell it's important to you; but I'm not really interested okay?"
'Not interested my ass' you thought to yourself, it was clear he liked volleyball! It was just his fears holding him back; and if he didn't gain some control he never would.
"If you don't ever come back to volleyball than the upperclassmen are-" Hinata's cut off by Kageyama punching him in the side, and you couldn't help but feel sorry when he held it painfully. 'That must've really hurt.'
"Do you ever shut up?" Kageyama complains, giving Hinata a side-glance which almost looked like remorse. Almost being the keyword there, while Asahi just laughed nervously in response to their antics. You smiled, he did seem to like the chaotic duo- even if they were a little rough around the edges; somehow they were so likable.
"You guys are funny, but listen to me; I'm sorry but- I've just forgotten what it feels like to send the ball through the wall of blockers. It seems impossible to me now... I just know i'll fail- again! Just thinking about it freaks me out and it's just too much for me right now."
"Well this might sound arrogant coming from a first year but, I still think it's important for me to say." Hinata comments nervously.
"Whatever you have to say, you can say it okay?" Asahi encourages. You smile- he's too soft for such a tall guy it's funny. You resist the urge to laugh, but you can see why Nishinoya was so close to him. He seemed like a reliable guy and that's what any libero can ask for on the court.
"I know what you mean- I'm short and I don't have great technique so the blockers used to stop me all the time. But- thanks to Kageyama's amazing sets I can get passed anybody now. The wall just fades away and the view of the other side is totally clear!" Hinata announces, pointing towards Kageyama who just stared at him. You giggled at his facial expression, attempting to restrain even more obnoxious laughter. You could feel Kageyama's eyes on you but ignored it- it was clear Hinata was going to give Asahi the motivation he needed to carry on with volleyball; and that means Nishinoya would be able to play again also!
"And once I reach the top I jump and the ball hits my hand- and the weight of it kind of leaves a sting on my palm, but I love that. You know- I'm really jealous of you - the way things are I don't have the height to clear a wall or the power; but you've got both. I know you might've had a rough time in the past, but you scored a lot more times than you got blocked right?I mean c'mon! That is why they call you the ace!" the bell goes off and you watch the retreating pair with a smile on your face. Hinata always knew the right thing to say.
"Let's head back Hinata." Yet Hinata just continued to meet Asahi gaze determinedly.
"Hey dude, we've gotta go!" Kageyama exclaimed, hitting Hinata around the head lightly. You snickered, finally emerging from around the corner giving Hinata a small wave. He pouted, rubbing his head where Kageyama hit him muttering 'stupid Kageyama' under his breath.
'Typical Hinata.'
"Hey err... It's impossible to win all by yourself. You need the help of your teammates- I'm still getting used to that idea myself, so I can't really talk, but it's true" Kageyama comments calmly, making his way down the hall. You smile towards Asahi, giving a peace sign before leaving; fully aware that both Kageyama and Hinata already said, what needed to be said. Just before you left you turned around.
"Just one practice- it might make all the difference you know" before walking off. It was probably unnecessary- but you thought one final nudge might be all it takes to convince the Ace of Karasuno to return.

You skipped happily towards the boys gym. A new, shiny uniform in your hands - you couldn't believe it. You were now the official libero of the girls team and in the starting line up. It was quite a bit early to be deciding starting line ups; but you supposed they did it to prepare you for the prefectures- you didn't think that you'd played a single official match in high school yet! The teacher in charge of managing such things hadn't been able to secure a practice match so far- you began wondering if it was even possible with your teams reputation; but you quickly dismissed the thought. You'd get there some day. Maybe you'd have to go to the boys with some matches to help get some experience before then. You saw the doors come into view and you grinned. You were always excited to see Nishinoya. As you pushed the doors open every turned their heads to stare at you and you blushed slightly.
"What are you looking at me like that for...?"
"(Y/n)? What are you doing here so late?" Nishinoya questioned, walking over to you from where he was talking- with Asahi! You grinned ear to ear, celebrating, confusing Nishinoya even more as he followed your gaze to Asahi
"YAY! It finally worked!"
Nishinoya stared at you questioningly, while Sugawara laughed at your reaction. He shared a knowing look with Daichi who let out a simple 'oh' in response. You gaze then turned to the men towards the back of the gym; who you recognized as the Neighborhood Association. You turned to Nishinoya excitedly, jumping up and down.
"You had a practice match? No way! That's so cool and with the Neighborhood Association- man you guys are so lucky!"
Nishinoya smiled at you, before dragging you over to Asahi to introduce you. You felt your heart swell at his happy expression seeing Asahi back again. You knew how much playing with Asahi meant to Nishinoya; and it seemed things were finally resolved between the two of them. And if Nishinoya was happy- you certainly was. "Hey Asahi! I wanna introduce you guys-"
"Oh. I think we've met before" Asahi laughed nervously and you nodded. Nishinoya looked surprised for a moment, before blinking.
"Wait- really?"
"(Y/n) right?" Asahi questioned nervously and you nodded eagerly.
"Yep- and you're Asahi. I happened to meet him while trying to find Sugawara" you explained. You looked to Asahi who seemed confused, but he seemed to get your message and nodded slowly. "Oh okay then- hey (Y/n) wanna walk back together?"
"Yeah of course, by the way to answer your question my practice ended about five minutes ago" you explained, wiping your brow subconsciously. You had been daydreaming during practice and got hit in the face with the ball accidentally. You laughed to yourself, thinking how much like Hinata that was and shook your head.
Speaking of Hinata...
"Hey (Y/n)!" Hinata greeted happily. You smiled at him, giving a quick hello and reaching up to give him a high ten (by now, your usual greeting) and Nishinoya looked away. Turning to Asahi who was simply watching the whole ordeal.
"Now that you're back, don't run away again Asahi. As long as you're the ace- I'll receive every ball I can."
Asahi nodded towards him. "I won't, I promise." You smiled as you watched the two interact. You were glad everything worked out in the end.
