A/n: This chapter is a really sad one... But it has got an actual purpose- I promise! D:
Also I realized the training camp isn't in Tokyo- but the next one is. Apologies for that- I've changed a few things in previous chapters but if anyone happens to spot something wrong let me know; then I can fix it! Thank you for reading!

It was late at night, roughly nine o'clock, and you was still practicing in the girl's gym. You hadn't went to the boys gym like you usually do- stuck in a trance- like state consumed by your own thoughts. Your hand constantly hitting the ball into the wall and receiving it flimsily in a continuous, monotonous pattern. It didn't particularly matter how late you stayed; you had the keys to lock up the gym and tomorrow was the last day of school before you had a week off (which will consist of the training camp with the guys) and the last day is never all that important. Lessons become more laid back and teacher's have just got to the point where they're exhausted and don't particularly want to deal with kids in detention. You slammed the ball a little harder as previous events entered your mind- their words ringing in head.
"You're just pathetic you know that? Do you think hanging out with the older years makes you better than us?"
"What! No! They're just my friends. I don't understand what-" you were cut off the the girl's shrill tone and you resisted the urge to cringe; giving her the satisfaction she was seeking for.
"Who would want to be friends with you?"
The girl's behind her laughed at her comment -or maybe at your facial expression, you didn't particularly care- as you stared defiantly into her eyes. What was this girls problem exactly?
You hit the ball even harder, the ball slamming into the wall with a satisfying 'thwack' as it rolled over to the over side of the court. You could feel the tears brimming in your eyes and you furiously blinked them away. This was what they wanted; yet why do the tears keep coming?
"A weakling like you doesn't deserve any attention. You're just the same little girl from junior high that ran away from all her problems. Maybe you should just make it easier for all of us and... Disappear."
You let out a sob, falling to your knees of the court with your hands covering your face. Why did that comment hurt you so much? Were you really making people's lives harder? You wouldn't want that- not for Nishinoya, not for Hitoka; not for anyone. You did runaway from your problems- that's why you're here. Hiding away in this gym hoping for it to all go away. They were just girls- and girls can be the cruelest - yet you let their words effect you this deeply. You could faintly hear footsteps approaching the gym, and your eyes widened; desperately attempting to wipe away stray tears with the sleeves of your jacket.
"Hey do you think she's in here?"
"I dunno. Probably, she loves volleyball just as much as the rest of us"
Nishinoya and Hinata's voices; you smiled at their concern. But you couldn't help but to see how they were right- you was a burden to them. They probably could've been well on their way home by now however they're stuck here- looking for you as you failed to turn up.
"The lights are on."
Kageyama? What was he doing here? You sighed as you made your way to the stray volleyball the other side of the court, slowly picking it up and staring at it. Volleyball always made everything okay... Then why wasn't it working now?
The door to the gym opened further and you turned your face away from sight. They didn't need to see you like this. Certainly not Nishinoya- he'll only worry even more than he already does.
"(Y/n)? What are you doing here so late?" Nishinoya questioned, slowly approaching you. You looked almost eerie standing still in the huge gym. You were always bounding with energy, a bright smile on your face. Your presence was always so huge and comforting - he almost thought it wasn't you at all.
"Practicing" you muttered. You could tell your voice was hoarse, probably from all that crying, but thankfully it didn't crack. If your voice cracked you might just start crying all over again. Kageyama seemed to get the idea you wanted to be left alone, as he dragged Hinata out of the gym despite his loud protests and you smiled. You caught a glimpse of Nishinoya's small blonde lock at the front and laughed at the sight. it was sticking up, probably as a result of all the sweat, but it looked absolutely ridiculous. You turned around to face him, and you could tell by the look on his face he was confused. You reached up to Nishinoya's hair, flattening the rogue lock before giggling. He seemed to smile at your laughter, but your puffy red eyes were a huge giveaway.
"What happened?" Nishinoya questioned, his tone soft but didn't quite match the fierce look in his eyes. You replayed the girls words in your mind again at the reminder- sure you'd had your fair share of bullying in your past but the girls seemed to be everywhere; as if you couldn't escape them.
"Loser."
"Pathetic."
"Weakling."
You didn't realize you were crying again until Nishinoya wiped the tears from your cheeks. You looked up into his eyes- those warm brown eyes that captivated you (and looked like chocolate) and couldn't help but wonder how you ever deserved him. He embraced you, and you slowly wrapped your arms around him. Crying into his shoulder. Nishinoya rubbed soothing circles into your back and eventually the sobbing stopped altogether. You just stood there for a while, basking in his presence before eventually unwinding your arms from around Nishinoya. You smiled at him, and he could tell it was force but he didn't push you; he just let you step away.
"What happened?"
"Stupid girls from my year" you admitted quietly. Silently cursing yourself for sounding so weak. "They have been following me around all day, calling me names and saying some horrible stuff. The one thing they said really got to me for some reason." Nishinoya didn't say anything for a while, and you were worried he found it stupid. And he probably wouldn't be wrong either- maybe you cared way too much?
"Don't worry about it. Ignore what they said- they'll stop trust me."
"Huh? I don't think they'll stop so easily."
"You just have to send a certain message. What's your class again?"
You look up to him nervously. "1-5- why what are you going to do?"
"You don't have to be intimidating (Y/n)! You've just got to look it. And I know how to do that. I've dealt with bullies numerous times before- mainly because of my height but now I always scare them off" he grinned. And you couldn't help but laugh. You were so lucky to have a good friend like Nishinoya; and who cares what they say?
As long as you've got Nishinoya by your side- you're invincible.
