The day my life changed forever happened on my 11th birthday. The date was April 24th. I always hated that day. According to my mother, I ruined her life. But I didn't care. I was always at either some boarding school or sitting on the roof of our apartment building, trying to avoid her. She hated me for some reason, which I never got. I'm delightful!

Okay, back to the point. Hi! My name is Karlee Gray! This is the story of my crazy, wonderful,—sometimes painful—life. It all started when I was on a field trip to some stupid old museum. The school I went to was called Yancy Academy. It was a school for troubled kids. Am I a troubled kid? Totally! I am a crazy, hyper, sarcastic 11-year-old girl with ADHD and Dyslexia.

I was sitting on the bus in between my two best friends, Percy Jackson and Grover Underwood, when this insufferable toad, Nancy Bobofit, started throwing chunks of her lunch at Grover's head. Grover is always being bullied because he has to use crutches due to some disease in the muscles in his legs. After he had ducked the fifth piece of her lunch, I was so done. I was about to stand up and punch her when Percy and Grover grabbed my arms to restrain me back. I shot them both a confused look and asked, "What?" trying to hide my anger.

"Don't play dumb Karlee. You were about to stand up and knock Nancy out," said Percy, releasing his grip on my arm.

I sighed and flopped back in my seat. "And I would have if you didn't grab my arms."

Percy smirked and said, "There's no doubt in my mind you would have, it's just you aren't getting expelled without me." I smiled and playfully punched his arm.

When we finally got to the museum, I was so relieved to be away from Nancy throwing stuff at us. We walked inside with Mr. Brunner--well he wheeled–into the Ancient Greek and Roman section. Mr. Brunner is our Latin teacher, but his favorite topic is Greek myths. He was always bringing replicas of things from Ancient Greece. They were cool and had awesome stories behind them. I never got tired of hearing about them.

So we were walking in and we saw this big huge thing carved into a piece of rock. From what I remember from Latin class, it was a monument of the Titan lord, Kronos, eating his children, the gods. I wasn't paying attention until I heard Mr. Brunner say, "And what is this a carving of Miss Gray?"

I snapped my head towards him and said, "That's Kronos, eating the gods or, his children."

Mr. Brunner smiled at me then said, "Please continue."

"Well, Kronos was afraid that his children would overpower him so he decided to get rid of them. By eating them." All around me, I heard several girls mutter "Ew" or "Gross" under their breath, but I kept taking. "The only one he didn't eat was baby Zeus. His mother, Rhea hid him from Kronos. When Zeus grew up, he knew he had to save his siblings so he gave Kronos a drink that made him throw up which released the gods from inside him. And them all being immortal, were alive and whole, aging inside the Titan's stomach." When I was done, I was surprised. I didn't know I knew that much about the gods.

From behind me, I heard Nancy scoff and whisper(very loudly,)"Why do we need to know this? It's not like we'll use this in real life!"

Much to my pleasure, Mr. Brunner heard her and turned to Percy, who had stopped paying attention a long time ago, and asked, "And why, Mr. Jackson, to paraphrase Miss Bobofit's excellent question, does this matter in real life?"

Percy thought about it for a second and then responded, "I don't know sir."

Mr. Brunner's face fell slightly before turning to me and said, "How about you Miss Gray? Do you have an answer?"

I shook my head and said, "I don't know either, sir." He looked a little disappointed but continued to talk like it never happened.

Before we all went outside for lunch, Mr. Brunner called Percy and me over and said, "Please find an answer to my question Miss Gray and Mr. Jackson. It'll help you in the long run." He winked at us and then wheeled away.

We stood there for a few seconds before going outside to join Grover for lunch.
