After convincing Smelly Gabe (I get the name now,) we headed to the beach.

By the time we got to the cabin, I felt like I had a real family for the first time in my life. It was sunset now and we started to clean the cabin up. After the cabin was cleaned up we walked along the beach feeding blue corn chips to the seagulls and eating a bag full of all blue candy. After a few minutes, I finally asked, "Why is all this candy blue?"

They both laughed and Percy started to explain, "Well a little while back my mom and Smelly Gabe fought whether or not there was such a thing as blue food. Of course, she was right but ever since then we go out of our way to eat blue foods."

Now it was my turn to laugh. It had been a while since I laughed with someone I could call my family. When it got dark out, we made a fire and started to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. Sally told me and Percy stories about when she was younger and about the books that she wanted to write. After talking for a little while longer we went into the cabin and went to sleep.

I was sound asleep until I felt Percy sit bolt upright right next to me. Outside there was a huge thunderstorm going on with 20-foot waves crashing on the dunes. It was as if the sky and the ocean were fighting with each other. When the next thunderclap hit both me and Sally sat up, eyes wide. "Hurricane."

I was about to go back to sleep when I heard a huge noise that name me wake up completely. It was somewhere between a lion's roar and a nuclear explosion. After that came a sound of something like hooves running across the sand. After a few seconds, the noise stopped and was replaced by someone banging on the cabin door. Sally quickly got out of bed. When she opened the door I was so surprised to see Grover standing there.

"Searching all night," he gasped. "What were you thinking?"

Sally looked at us in horror. Not because she was scared of Grover, but why on earth he was there.

"Percy, Karlee," screamed Sally, so we could hear her over the storm. "What happened at school? What didn't you tell me?" We were frozen in shock, not comprehending what we saw.

"O Zeus kai alloi theoi!" Grover yelled. "It's right behind me! Didn't you two tell her?"

I was too shocked to realize that Grover just cursed in Ancient Greek and that I perfectly understood him. I was too pre-occupied because Grover wasn't wearing any pants--and where his legs should be...where his legs should be...

Sally looked at us sternly and spoke in a tone I would never expect her to say. "Percy. Tell me now!"

He muttered something about the old ladies at the fruit stand and Mrs. Dodds.

Sally grabbed her purse and tossed us our rain jackets just before she shouted "Get to the car! The three of you. Go!"

Grover ran for the car--well he wasn't running so much as trotting. Suddenly the story about his muscular disorder made sense. I figured out how he ran so fast and still limp when he walked. Where Grover's feet should have been...there were two goat hooves.
