"I am so sorry, Agnus, that guy is the slowest shopper in the entire world. Seriously, he can have his own page in the Guineas World Record...but then, he might take too long for them..."
I laughed as I shoved my school books back into the bag and grabbed my scarf. "My mother picked my sister up earlier today anyways, so there is no stress for time...." I shrugged. "No apology needed."
Keith nodded. "What a week hey?"
"It's been eventful...and it's only Tuesday,"
A car honked outside, and Keith turned. "That must be my Uncle. He's going to drop me off, but I'll ask him to drop you off too."
"No, you don't have too..."
"I insist, you should be home then at least five past seven instead of seven-thirty...I mean, man..." Keith shook his head and opened the door of the candy story. "After you."
I smiled as I walked out and headed towards the car. However, Keith quickly locked up and rushed to the passenger door, opening it for me as well.
"Well, aren't you the gentleman?" I asked and winked.
"Please, my mother would burn me alive if she heard that I let a lady open a car door by herself..." Keith said and grinned.
"Your mother is a wise woman..." I took a seat and grabbed my phone. Ellie and I had been discussing nonstop over Evan's actions, and she told me to take it all with a pinch of salt. Evan was almost always late for dates, and if he did pitch up, that I had every right to chase him off if I wanted to.
But the thing was...did I really want to?
I put my phone back and swallowed nervously. All I knew was that tonight was pretty much going to be a wild ride if he showed up.
"Wow, your dad drives a fancy car," Keith remarked as Mr Rogers parked in my driveway. I looked at and my eyes widened.
That was Evan's car.
"I think it's a lawyer or something....the house has been crowded with them..." I said and swung my backpack over my shoulder. I climbed out and waved at Keith as they drove off. I swallowed hard, not knowing what to expect.
Before I could even open the door, it swung open. My mother stood there beaming. "You're late! Nevermind that, your date is a very charming guy..."
"My date..." I stammered as she grabbed my hand pulled me in. I heard laughter, and I could have sworn it was my dad. My mother drags me into the living room, where my entire family was crowding around Evan. Evan was busy holding a guitar in his hand and playing a small tune while talking to my dad. A pang of jealousy struck inside of me. I had never managed to make my dad look or laugh like he did.
"She's here...so sorry she's late..."
Evan looked up and my heart stopped. He was actually here. The jerk arrived on time, and had a head start with my parents. No kicking him out unfortunately.
"So, please do send me the number of those laywers," my dad spoke to Evan who nodded.
"Of course, I'm sure they'll have your problems sorted in no time," Evan stood up and walked towards me. "Hey Agnus, you're late."
"Well, things didn't exactly go to plan," I mumbled. I raised my brow at him. "So you actually came."
"Of course...now," Evan looked at my mother. "Thank you so much for that coffee, and your biscuits are absolutely delightful."
"Actually Agnus baked them..."
"Really?" Evan grinned at me and I swallowed.
"Yeah she..."
"You know, I think we better get going. I'm sure whatever Evan has planned has a time-stamp, no time to lose..." I grabbed Evan's hand and headed out. My mother, as wonderful as she was, gave away too much information. Keith was one thing, but Evan entirely another. Anything said to him could possibly be used against me...not that he has. I just haven't quite trusted him not to yet.
"Bring her back at..."
"Eleven....I will Mrs Rider," Evan responded. I glanced back at my mom who showed a huge thumbs up.
Great....perfect....
We closed the door and I sighed.
"So eager to go on our date...I had no idea you were so into me...." Evan smiled.
I shook my head. "Don't push your luck...although I am not so negative to the idea, I was more eager to get you away from my mother."
"Oh, because she is proud of her little girl," Evan remarked, and a blush crept up my cheeks.
"Gosh, what did she tell you?"
"Nothing too embarrassing," Evan unlocked his car and opened the door. "Just that you dance in your room for almost an hour every day...fascinating."
"Arrgg," I responded as I climbed in.
"And your tinkerbell fascination..."
"Hey, she's awesome, ok?" I said. Evan laughed as he closed the door and walked around. As he climbed in I grabbed my seatbelt and strapped myself in. No need for him to reach over me. After all, I thought confidently. This will be the first and last date I will ever have with him. My curiosity was burning brightly, and his gorgeous smile just wanted to make me melt.
I'm sure I wasn't about to get blown away. I mean, he was a player...I bet he had a standard restaurant he took all the girls to, and now he was just going to take me there. I will be mildly amused, and realize what an idiot I am for crushing on the hottest Rockstar in school.
