"Aaah, she's here!" Cara yelled out and waved at me. I took a deep breath. My heart was really heavy, but I wasn't going to kill the mood. I walked towards them and gave both Cara and Lisa a hug.
"Hey, trouble-maker..."
I turned around and sighed. "Hey Joey...I believe I owe you a huge thanks...with that fight."
"Don't sweat it...it was the decent thing to do...and besides, considering Tyler has had his rank in the sport's team stripped, I've been nominated for Team Captain for my role in the fight..." Joey grinned.
"Well, you've definitely earned it..."
"Thank you..."
"Where's Keith?" I asked and Lisa shook her head.
"He's gone to get snacks to sneak into the movie theatre..."
"Seriously, that guy works in a Candy Store...why doesn't he bring some of those?" Lisa asked and shakes her head. "That boy doesn't really think ahead much."
"I wouldn't be too sure of that," I mentioned thinking back on how he thrashed me and my family in the board game. He was a lot smarter than he may come off as. "So what are we watching?"
"The ever so popular Tangled...I hear it's good...but I can't believe you guys talked me into watching this," Joey rolled his eyes.
"Oh, come on, you may be one big buff jock-boy, but you're a softie inside," Lisa punched him on his shoulder and he chuckled. "Yeah, maybe..." he smirked at her, and I raised my brow.
Cara stood next to me. "Potential cute couple alert..." she whispered to me.
"What are we talking about?"
Both Cara and I squealed.
"Woah, ladies, one at a time at least so that only one ear bursts..." Keith winced and laughed.
"You better have gotten candy for all of us," Cara snapped, but then smiled.
"Yeah, and then some, come on..."
"Oh, I still need to buy my ticket..." I mentioned
"No worries, I got yours too..." Keith motioned for us to follow him, and we followed shortly behind. We booked a row of chairs. Cara took the first chair, then Joey.
"Sorry, you mind if I sit..."
"Sure go ahead," I winked at her, and allowed her to sit next to Joey. I sat next to Lisa, and it left one seat left for Keith. He sat down and grunted. He shuffled a bit, then grunted again.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah," Keith spoke. He grunted again. "I swear...there is something in this seat..."
I tried my best not to laugh as he kept shifting in his seat. After a few seconds, he grew still, but soon started moving again.
"It may help if you remove the keys in your pocket..."
Keith froze. I saw his jaw stiffen. "Right..." He fished into his pocket and removed his keys. "How'd you know?"
"You always stuff the key into your back pocket after locking up shop...I assume you came directly from the Candy Store to here...and voila..."
"A Miss Sherlock Holmes in the making," Keith whispered.
"Sh...the movie is starting..."
Two hours later, we exited the theatre in laughter and tears.
"I swear, I wasn't crying, I got something in my eye..." Joey spoke.
"Yeah, they're called tears..."
"No, there is dust, and my eyes are sensitive..." Joey insisted and Lisa laughed.
"So..." Keith spoke getting my attention. "How are you getting home?"
"My dad's fetching me..."
"So he's not so vacant in your life anymore?"
I shook my head. "He's trying to change...and I can actually see it..."
"Yeah, that's great," Keith spoke and nodded.
"But I did break up with Evan..."
Keith frowned. "When did this happen?"
"Today..." I responded.
"And you didn't say a word..."
"I didn't want to ruin the mood, besides, I wanted the distraction..." I responded. "Just wanted to let you know..."
"What made you decide to do it?"
"A lot of things..."
"But you're still uncertain whether or not you made the right choice..."
I nodded. "It's literally the battle between the heart and head."
Keith crossed his arms and nodded.
"And now you're speechless..." I said and grinned.
"What do you want me to say? Do I think you made the right decision? You bet I do, but I don't like seeing you miserable either..."
"You think I'm gonna be miserable without him?"
"I don't know, will you?"
I shrugged. "I don't know...but right now, I am up for some ice cream."
"Me too! I second that!" Cara squealed, and Joey laughed.
"Let's get to it then..." The group started walking, but Keith softly touched my arm, and I stopped.
"Are you ok?"
I gave a soft laugh and shook my head. "Please don't take me down this road again...I can't pass out in the middle of the mall."
Keith grinned. "I don't know, I might be able to lug you around...and hopefully evade any security and police who think I'm kidnapping you."
"Just wear a red cape, that should solve the trick..." I joked and he smiled, but he shook his head.
"What?"
"Ah...it's so funny you think you can escape this question..."
"Arrrgh, I was really hoping to skate around it..."
"Seriously, Agnus, don't make me beg..."
"Ok, I'm not 100% ok, yet, but I will be... does that satisfy you?"
"For now..." Keith nodded, and he motioned for me to start walking. I laughed and shook my head. What a day. What a night.
But I knew, the complications were far from over. I still had to truly decide about Evan, and whether I should really and truly walk away.
