The music beat rose higher, and I enjoyed the water splashing on my face. A lot of people were in the pool, but others were on the grass and dancing. A DJ had taken over after Evan and his band stopped playing. He had vanished, and now I was just enjoying the music with Keith.
Keith himself was also in the pool, but he was leaning at the edge and watching. I waved for him to come and join me, but he only smiled. Oh well.
Ellie soon came to my side, and we started dancing in the water. It was a strange feeling. Although my arms and shoulders were in sync, my legs under the water was slow, so I decided just to move my upper body. I laughed as Ellie pulled a quirky face, and we both twisted.
"Ladies," Tyler joined in and I rolled my eyes. A small part of me was actually starting to dislike him. He completely ignored Ellie, unless I was there. His motives were becoming clearer and clearer.
"I'm gonna get myself another drink," I said and wanted to leave. However, Keith took my cup.
"Please, allow me, I'll be back,"
"Yeah, but you better come with your dancing shoes...." I said and he laughed.
"Sure, I think I have them in the trunk of my car...."
"But you don't have a car..."
Keith winked and I shook my head as I watched him go. Tyler and Ellie were dancing closer, and I stayed in the corner. Maybe I was reading things wrong...
"There is my princess," I turned to see Evan climb into the pool. "Sorry, it was journey and half to avoid my fangirls..."
"I'm sure you'd have an easier more fun time with them than with me," I said as I raised my brow.
"Yeah, and also equally as boring...some of them are as shallow as a splash pool, and others as emotional as the ocean..."
I struck the water with my fist and water splashed into Evan's face. He staggered back, and I laughed. He honestly deserved that, and I looked forward to splashing him more. However, before I could strike again, he dived into the water.
"Eeeek," I squealed as Evan jumped up right next to me and grabbed my waist. Before I knew it, he dunked me under water and pulled me up again. I wrapped my arms around his neck. If I was going down again, he'd have to down with me. He laughed, and let go off me. He turned, and I took this opportunity. I pounced on him, and he sank down. I laughed so hard, but made my way to the edge of the pool and climbed out.
"I got your drink..." Keith appeared.
"Ah, my hero," I took the glass.
"Evan...."
"Keith...you're here,"
"Yeah, I invited him," I said as I turned around to face Evan. He obviously wanted to pursue me and get his revenge. This put a dent in his plans.
"Evan! We need to dunk Dirk!" one of Evan's pals, I think his name was Dave called out.
"I'll be right there," Evan spoke. He winked at me.
"This isn't over," with that he ran off and I just grinned. I turned to see Keith's puzzled expression.
"What?" I asked. "I dunked him...after he dunked me...after I splashed him...."
"And I'm the five-year-old?"
I laughed and took sip of my drink. I frowned as I looked at Keith's body. There was a distinct scar on his lower half, close to the ribs and belly button.
"What happened there?"
"Uh, an ugly accident, my mom had a fit, bless her soul," Keith said.
"Wow, I never took you for a risk-taker..."
"Well, this is why," Keith motioned to the scar and I laughed. Keith and I went back to the pool to enjoy our drinks and listen to the music. However, another hour or two passed, and Keith started to dance a little.
"I'm so sorry to dump this on you, but I need to go," Keith said.
"Awwwh," I pouted and he grinned.
"See you on Monday?"
"Yessir Sergeant...Sir....Thingie..."
"You sure you didn't drink any alcohol?" Keith said as he stared at his cup.
"I'm sure...I'm just high on music,"
"Take care," I watched as Keith climbed out of the pool and left. I turned to see that Ellie and Tyler were sitting on the opposite side, and no sign of Evan. I simply took this time to float in the water. Albeit I was pretty much alone at this moment, I loved every second of it.
That was until I heard scuffles of feet, yells and a looming shadow. My eyes widened as a group of students fell into water, one of them landing straight on me.
