you laid on the hospital bed, blowing lightly at the tube that was plugged into you. you hated the feeling, but it was necessary. "i'm sorry i can't go see your game." you hummed, looking up to lock eyes with the worried looking libero. he shook his head frantically, taking your free hand in his own.
"no, don't be sorry! i'll play with my all, i'll make sure everyone else does too!" he spoke in a matter of fact voice, watching as you smiled at his words. your thumb rubbed over his palm, your eyes glowing with hope. "promise me, nishi, promise me you guys will win and move onto the nationals."
"i promise."
that wasn't too long ago, the memory still fresh in his mind. the warmth of your hand lingering in his own as he walked onto the court with the others. he gave them a look, his facial expression serious as they nodded back; their own expressions matching his.
