One of Scott's hands rubbed over Avi's back and then moved up to his hair, careful to avoid his shoulder, resting against the back of his head to keep him close during the hug. He felt Avi gripping his shirt and not wanting to let go which Scott did not mind. "I will help you, Avi. I promise. I don't know how but we'll figure it out together, okay?"
Avi nodded, sniffling softly, and then slowly pulled back while still holding on to Scott. After the car crash he sometimes struggled to keep himself up on his legs since he was unable to use his vision to help calibrate the sensory system that was in charge of him keeping his balance. "O-okay. Thank you. And I am sorry, for growling at you."
"It's fine, bud. Forget about it. But now we have to focus on getting some food into your tummy. What were you planning to make?" Scott pulled away while the bass kept holding onto his hoodie.
"Jus' lentil curry and some rice but I didn't get very far."
"You got further than I would've made it and I can see." Scott stopped and bit his lip, nervous about Avi's reaction.
But instead of getting sad or angry the bass started to smile and even chuckle. "It's really not that hard."
"Do you want to guide me through it? Let's get you a chair and then we can cook together. You seem little wobbly today."
Avi nodded and let go of Scott before he reached out to lean against the wall while the baritone got him a chair from the table standing in the living room. "Yeah, it's just- my balance." He sat down in front of the counter when he felt the wood touching his thighs to have a chance to calm down.
The tall blonde pulled up the blinds to let some light in, took two aprons and tied one around Avi's, the other one around his own waist before he handed him the peeler and one of the carrots. "Go slow, okay? The blade is pretty dull but you don't need another injury."
"Alright" Avi mumbled and felt for the skin of the carrot to find out where he had peeled it already. The tips of his fingers moved over the vegetable, turning it until he was sure that the unpeeled part was pointing down. "Scott? Can you- uh, let me know if this is right? Just so I know if I figured it out.."
Scott smiled and looked over at Avi. "Yeah, looks perfect!" he said enthusiastically and started chopping the onion.
They didn't talk so Avi had a chance to focus on what he was doing and soon enough, faster than the baritone had expected, everything was peeled and ready to go in the pot, even the garlic cloves.
The baritone took a pot, drizzled a good amount of olive oil in it and turned on the burner. His hand hovered over it, feeling the heat. "Do you want to put in the onions and garlic?" he asked his friend and reached for his hand. "Here, you can feel the heat coming from the oil? That's where you have to drop it, okay?"
Avi nodded frantically and felt for the cutting board to scoop up the diced onion and garlic, moved to the stove and dropped it in the pot without spilling a single piece. The oil started to sizzle and Avi started smiling lightly. "Good?"
"Good, yeah! What do I have to do now?"
"Medium heat until it's translucent and fragrant, then add one teaspoon of curry powder and a little a cayenne pepper, put in thinly sliced carrots and potato and then fry for a minute or two. Add a cup of water and the lentils. That's basically it."
"Okay, that doesn't sound too hard. Can you fill this pot with water for the rice?"
"Yeah!" Avi felt for the pot, then turned to the sink and uses his measuring cup to fill it with two cups of water before he put it on the stovetop. Then he managed to turn it on, waiting until he heard the flame and looked to where he thought Scott was standing.
"Yep, perfect."
Together they finished cooking the curry and Scott let Avi plate the food. It ended up being rather messy because some of the rice managed to fall off the spoon until the bass was able to dump it in a bowl. Scott added the chili and let Avi carry the bowls while he got water and brought it to the table.
"That wasn't too bad" the bearded man mumbled and had one hand resting against the bowl while he mixed rice and curry and started to eat. "That's really good, Scott."
"Well, you helped make it!"
Avi hummed and nodded while he ate. "Mhm...I did."
They ate in silence until both bowls were empty and Scott loaded the dishwasher before he cleaned up the kitchen and returned to the living room. Avi had pulled up the blinds there by himself and looked over to were he expected Scott to be.
"I thought that...maybe you want some light..."
"You're sweet, thank you Avi. But I thought that maybe we should get you dressed properly and then leave the apartment for a little, just to go on a walk and maybe get some ice cream for dessert?"
"Scott..." Avi said and frowned slightly. "I don't know. I can't- I can't see..."
"But I can and I'll guide you. You can trust me, Avi. It's beautiful outside, the sun is shining and I feel like you really need to get out of here, at least for half an hour. You've been in here for way too long."
