Flirting

Its been a little over a  year since I escaped and I enjoyed my new life. I worked as a waitress and bartender down the street from where I lived with Tate. Tate was by best friend . He was literally my savior or as he puts it 'My Knight and Shinning Armor'. I probably wouldn't be here today without him. I literally owe him my life.

I was working tonight , mostly just waiting drinks. It was a normal friday night , the usuals were here and some Frat boys from the college about 20 minutes from here. "Hey boys " I say putting a hand on my hip . "What can I get you to drink ?" they looked at me like I was a piece of meat. I hated objectifying myself but I got good tips which helped me buy the pretty things I like. "Just some beer's gorgeous and maybe a few wings" one of the said flashing me a charming smile. "You got it" I said walking away with a wink .

I walked up to the bar telling the guy working there what they wanted . And before I could walk away he stopped me . "Audrey wait" I spun around on my heel to face him. "Yes Daniel ?"

"Why do you flirt with every guy here . I mean you deserve better"

"Awe Daniel , its not like I actually like any of them it just helps pay the bills and stuff . I mean I dont exactly make much money as a waitress " I tell him

"I know its just - I just dont like the way they look at you" he says looking back over a the Frat boy

"Thank you for your concern Daniel but I'm fine I'll be fine too . Rember what I did to that one drunk when he got a bit to handsey"

"Yea I guess" he says chuckling . "Just be careful and they're not the only one's staring . Those two men over there are aswell" he say pointing to two men over in the corner who were taking turns watching me .

" Then they'll probably give good tips aswell . But realy Dan I'll be fine and I apreciate your concern" I say smiling and touching his arm , I plant a kiss on his cheek aswell. Daniel was like a big brother too me and a good one at that.

" Jeez Drey , your always so cold "  I laugh at his comment. I haven't told anyone about my powers. Not even Tate knows. I only use them to cool down the drinks and nothing else .

 "Here's the beer's . The wings will be out shortly" he continued

I smile and nod walking back over to the college boys and giving them their beers . "If you need anything else , I'm Audrey" I tell them before walking over to the two men in the back.

"Hello gentlemen" I say still flirting . "What can I get you"

"We're here to talk to you." one of them said. He had dark skin and short boxed beard

"About what ?" I ask innocently even though I know what because I reconize them as part of the Avengers

"I think you know what" the other man said . He had blonde hair and was well groomed.

I sighed . My life was going great and now these bozos show up and try to ruin it .

"Can you guys please just leave me alone . I have a good thing going here and I haven't done anything" I ask desperately . 

"Afraid not . Captains orders"

"Well your 'Captain' should be here if he really want's  me . So come back with him so we can have a proper chat or I'm going to start screaming and Daniel over there" I say pointing my thumb over my shoulder towards the bartender "Is going to pull out the shotgun we keep under the bar" I threaten . "Ill be here all week at this time except for Sundays" I tell them before smiling and walking away.

I walk back to the bar to get the boy's wings and bring it to them but a familiar face on one of the stool's catches my atttention. "Tate . What are you doing here ? I thought you werent a drinker " I say suprised to see my best friends and room mate . " Audrey ! I just came by to say hi I guess" he said getting up and shoving his hands in his pockets. "Ill be right back I have to take these wings to Capa Capa Douchebag's". He laughs looking back at the college boys . " Ill be right back"

I leave and give the boys their wings and left with a flirtasious salute. "Do you always flirt with the costumers ?" Tate asked laughing . I push his shoulder lightly "How do you think I can afford all my pretty things? " I ask rasing an eyebrow . "Being flirty gets you good tips" .

"It's also a big help that your absolutely stunning " he says gesturing to me . "Not to bad yourself" I bite my lip trying to hold back a smile but its no avail . Tate and I have this back and forth flirting thing. I dont know how he feels but I wouldn't mind if he liked me more than a friend . "I get off in 15 . Wanna catch a movie after ?" I ask him hopefully . "You know it" he replies . "Good . I better get back to work . See you in a bit " I say before walking off to wait more tables. 

My 15 minutes were up and I clocked out ready to leave . I grab my jacket and walk over to Tate . "Ready ?" I ask . "Ready" he responds . I look back over in the corner and see that the two men are still there watching me. I have a feeling they'll be following me at Tate to the movies aswell. 

We were walking down the street in peaceful scilence with our arms linked and my head resting on his shoulder . "Audrey" Tate spoke and stopped in his tracks causing me to stop in mine aswell. "Yea ?" I ask turning to look at him .

" I really really like you " he says a bit breathly and nervous . A huge smile broke out onto my face. " I like you too Tate" . His face lit up like it was Christmas . "Really ?"   I laughed at his question and stepped closer to him. "Really really" I say copying what he said moments ago . We lean into kiss as I wrap my arms around his neck but he stops abruptly and gasps in pain . I open my eyes and see that theres a weird sword impaling his stomach. I scream and put my hands over my mouth as tear's flood my eyes as the weapon was pulled out and he dropped to the floor . 

I was on my knee's next to him in an instant . "Audrey" he struggled to speak . "Tate nononono . Stay with me ! Keep your eyes open" I tell him sobbing . Someone starts trying to pull me . I look up and see that god aweful symbol from a year ago . This man killed my best friend . I know who this is. Fucker   I put my hands on his arm and freeze it until it turns black from frost bite . He screams in pain . And before he can retaliate and arrow was shot through his fore head . He falls dead as the blonde man from ealier comes to my assistance with a bow in his hand .

I start having a panic attack . Too much has happened in that last minute . The archer put's his hands on my shoulders trying to calm me down . I look over to my now dead friend and the attack worsen's . My emotions are so destraught thats the ground starts to freeze over underneath us and little snow flakes fall from the sky .  I'm too caught up in my emotions to notice the sedative shot in my neck renduring me unconsious.
