Aziel felt himself chill down to his very soul as Elijah shoved a handful of snow inside his jacket. He hissed as his back started to turn numb.
"Fuck you!" Aziel screamed as shrieks of his brother's laughter filled the air.
Quickly making his way inside, he ran to his room. He ignored his brother's laughter filled smug description of the event to his parents and closed his room door.
Quickly removing the wet jacket and t-shirt, he pulled on a set of clothes. He still could feel the icy cold seeping into his bones and his sensitive nose turning bright red, putting Rudolf to shame.
No matter how much he was smiling, he was anxious. It was Christmas eve and today with no school to attend, Aziel didn't know what to expect.
He sighed and pushed the thoughts out of his mind. Today it was supposed to be family time.
His socks clad feet padded across the wooden stairs, creating a soft thump that was muted a little by the carpet on the top. Before he could make his way to the kitchen, where he could smell hot chocolate and cinnamon buns and hear the chatter, the bell rang.
"I'll get it!" Aziel shouted, turning towards the door.
Before he could even take a step ahead, a mail fluttered in through the small gap under the door. It moved with momentum for a few seconds and then gracefully settled down on the floor.
Quick to act Aziel swooped the letter up. When he read his name on the top, all the thoughts left his brain and his heart stilled.
Seeking privacy, he quickly made his way towards his room, taking two steps at a time.
He bolted his door close, wanting privacy in every way, and carefully tore the envelope open. A single page slipped through the opening.
With fingers agile, he unfolded the letter and read through the words addressed to him
'Just one day to go! Are you excited? I am.
Today this letter is the only gift you will be receiving because I felt like nothing could do justice to the events that will be happening tomorrow. You might feel nervous and confused and that is ok because my feelings are mutual too.
I am scared, scared about how you will react and what words will slip past your lips after we meet.
But let's live life one day at a time, shall we?
So before I wrap up with this letter, I want you to know that I am closer than you think and farther than you can reach. You might feel like you are being mistaken but always remember to ask your heart because mind you this Christmas magic can happen.
Leave your bedroom window open tonight. I will meet you then because that is when Santa comes, right? At midnight.
p.s. don't forget to wear that ugly sweater. :)′
His fingers came up and traced the faint, cherry lipstick mark near the end. A small smile adorned his face, and he hadn't even realized its presence.
She was right that he couldn't wait for tomorrow or he should say tonight.
