Aziel felt sweat gather in his palms as the taxi pulled up near the given address. As the distance left reduced, his heart thudded painfully.
Jason next to him was excited but not at all nervous. He didn't know what this meeting meant to him.
For all he knew, he was going to meet his long-distance girlfriend. A girl he met only once near the new year and had been talking to and dating through social networking sites.
He didn't know that the girl was actually Uriella, his Ella, who was now reincarnated. He didn't know that it was her who was his Secret Santa, not some random girl, he said he didn't know. Jason thought that this was going to be just a summer fling and all of it was going to be over after they returned. But for Aziel, this was way more than a summer fling.
The taxi driver pulled in front of a huge grey house. The porch was wide with many flowering plants growing around.
Jason and Aziel stepped, paying the driver money. They had left their stuff at the hotel room they were sharing. For Jason, this trip was something that popped up his mind spontaneously but this was something he had been planning on for months.
She didn't know that he was here and it was a surprise he wanted to see on her face. Now that he was standing at the steps of the house he felt nervous.
Finally gathering courage he rang the bell. A bell similar to the tinkle of windchime sounded in response.
He held his breath as the door opened up. He didn't know what reaction he should expect.
Behind the door, a boy no older than 14 stood with his arms crossed over his chest. He was trying to be intimidating and it would have worked especially with him towering him if it weren't for his thin and next to no muscles.
His eyes were charcoal black and hair jet black. He tried to maintain the expression for a few seconds but then failed and gave them a questioning stare.
"You are Adaline's boyfriend, right?" he said in a voice higher than normal, trying to gain someone's attention. Puberty was still hitting him hard as his voice cracked in the end.
"Yes! I am Aziel and you are?" Aziel replied a bit amused and happy.
Before the boy could say anything a very feminine voice spoke up from behind.
"He is my anti-social idiotic brother Alec." she spoke up. Her tone didn't hold any hint of mockery, just adoration.
Aziel was left breathless. The voice he had heard only on the phone was enchanting. But her face was even more so.
Her strawberry blond hair was bound in a rubber band and her black eyes matched her brother's. She seemed the opposite of his Ella in looks but when she smiled towards him, it was impossible to deny her love and similarity.
Her cheeks her warmed pink as she glanced at her attire, just some cotton shorts and long t-shirt she stole from her brother.
Aziel bit his lips similar to her.
"Hi, Aziel." She whispered.
"Hey, Adaline."
Since Uriella had sacrificed her life Aziel, their lifeline was now shared. Whatever years Uriella had originally left in her life were now shared equally between them. Since their age was the same, they were also bound to die at the same time but they didn't seem to mind because they were happy if they were together.
They always lived their life like it was their last day because they knew they didn't have many years. At the age of 22, Aziel proposed her, wanting to embrace every happiness they could in their short time.
They shared happiness and sadness. They moved through life with what they had been offered and finding a reason for hope in dark times too.
