Chapter 26

Cora's POV

We all waited for a doctor to come out for an update on jace. I was sat down with my kids close to me. Rose was one side of me while Damon was the other. Emilio was pacing the floor biting his nails. "Emilio calm down honey. Jace will be ok," rose tried to assure him. "I know. It's just the what ifs. I can't lose him mum, that kid is to important to me," he told her with tears starting to form. "I'm looking for jace black," a woman, man and child rushed. I recognised them from when I saw jace at the diner months ago. The day I gave him my number. Damn that felt like years ago not months. "Hey, I was the one to call you," Emilio called over. All three came over looking a little worried. The kid looked scared, the woman was worried and the man looked like he didn't want to be there. "What happened?" The woman asked. "He got shot. He's in surgery we just have to wait," he explained.

We were all sat there for a couple hours until a doctor came out. "Jace's Blacks family?" He called out. We all stood up but I stayed close to my kids. "He's out of surgery. Very weak but he will make it. Jace has requested to see cora first," he nodded. "Damon can you help me with the twins please?" I asked. He nodded and picked up the car seats. We followed the doctor into a room and jace was laying on the bed with a bandage wrapped around his stomach. Damon put the car seats next to the bed and left. "Jace," I whispered. "Cora?" He opened his eyes slightly. "I'm here jace," I cried. "Did you get Arorah back. Is our little girl ok?" He sounded worried. "She's fine," I smiled. I bent down to get her out. Once I got her out of the car seat I passed her to jace. "Mi pequeña niña,"- my little girl, Jace whispered as he held her close. I got Kieran and sat next to him on the bed. "Jace," I broke the silence. "Yeah," he looked at me. "Emilio called your mum and dad. They're out in the waiting room," I told him. "Fuck. Can you get Emilio for me?" He asked. I nodded and gave him Kieran then walked out. I got to the waiting room and everyone looked at me. "Jace wants to see you. I'll leave you to speak alone," I looked at Emilio. He got up from him chair and walked to the room. "Is he alright?" Rose asked me. "Yeah. Very happy to his little girl again," I smiled. "I bet he is," rose hugged me. Jace's parents and little brother stayed quiet while he we were there.

Jace's POV

When cora left I looked at both of my children. Emilio came in making me look at him with a mad expression. "Why are they here?" I clenched my jaw. "They have to since they are your biological family. I don't want them here as much as you jace," Emilio replied. "Did you tell them about cora and the twins?" I my face softened. "No. They didn't really look at her or the kids," he told me. I looked down at them, they layed sleeping in my arms. "How's willow?" I broke the silence. "Good. We have a little boy. My dad is still with her," he replied. "Go to her. I'm fine. And can you send in my parents on your way out?" I looked at him. He nodded then left. A couple minutes later, my mum, dad and little brother walked in. "Why are you here?" I asked. "That man said you wanted to see us," my mum looked worried, my dad had no expression like usual and my little brother was hiding. "Hey Thomas," I smiled down at him. "Hi jace," he waved and smiled. "Do you want to meet you niece and nephew?" I asked. He nodded and ran up to me. Thomas climbed on the bed and looked at them. "This is Arorah and Kieran. They're mine and my girlfriends babies," I told him. "They are cute," he giggled. "You want to hold one?" I looked at him. He nodded his head and sat between my legs. I carefully placed Kieran in his arms still helping him hold him. "What do you think?" I chuckled. "I like him," Thomas looked at him. "Maybe you can play with them when they're a bit older," I smiled. "Yep," he said popping the p. "Why didn't you tell us you were a dad?" My mum got my attention. "Because your not my mum and dad. You made that choice when you started beating me," I glared at them. "Don't talk to your mother like that," my dad spat out. "Your not my parents. I don't have to show respect or anything to you two. I have looked after myself for years. You brought this upon yourselves," I glared at them. "Fine. Come on Thomas, it's time to leave," my mum started to cry. "No, I don't want to leave jace," Thomas held on to Kieran. "Jace doesn't want us baby, come on," she said. "I didn't say that. I said your not my parents, that doesn't stop Thomas from being my brother," I furrowed my eyebrows. "Jace don't let them take me," he looked up at me with tears in his eyes. I took Kieran from him and placed the twins on the bed. I stood up and grabbed Thomas. I pulled off his t-shirt to see bruises and cuts on his small body. "Who did this to you?" I asked him. Thomas stared at me crying and looking at the floor. "It's ok, you can tell me," I whispered. "Daddy and mummy," I sobbed. I pulled him into a hug and glared at my so called parents. "I'm going to take care of Thomas from now on. He doesn't need to go through what I did. You need to leave now," my voice was stern at I looked between the two. "I can't lose both my boys," my mum cried. "Shouldn't have layed at hand on him. Mum he's four years old. He isn't in school yet, Thomas is staying with me at my house. Don't bother trying to get him back because I have more than enough money and proof to pay people off," I held Thomas close to me. "Let's go. They're not worth it," my dad stated. He grabbed my mums hand and they left. They didn't look back once. "Your going to stay with me ok. I have two people back at my house that you will like ok. I'll get you clothes and shoes when I get out of this place ok," I told him. He nodded his head that was buried in my neck. Rose, Damon and cora came back in. Cora picked up Kieran while rose got Arorah. "Thomas do you remember cora for the diner?" I rubbed his back. "Yeah," he whispered. "She's my girlfriend now. She's Kieran and Arorah's mum," I told him. "Hello Thomas," Cora smiled. "Hello," he looked at her. "Is that man going to hurt me?" Thomas looked at Damon then back at me. "No mate. That's one of my friends, his name is Damon. He will help look after you when I can't," I reassured him. "I have a son about your age," Damon smiled softly at him. "Will he be staying with us?" Rose asked. "Yeah. I can buy my own place. My mum and dad started beating him like they used to do with me. I'm not going to let my little brother go through that pain," I hugged Thomas. "Lay down mate. Get some sleep," I placed him down on the hospital bed and covered him with the blanket. "What about you?" Damon asked. "I'm in a gang Damon. A gun shot isn't new. I'll be fine, he looks like he needs the sleep," I smiled down at him. I walked over to rose and took Arorah from her. "Jace you don't need to buy a house. You can stay at the house. We have enough rooms and more," she smiled. "Thank you Rose. But I'll move out eventually," I hugged her but was careful of my baby. I went over to cora and hugged her as well. "This has got to be the best and worst year in my life," she laughed a little. "The best being the twins and the worst being you getting shot. The boys from school and Arorah being taken. But we still have each other," I kissed her. "You said girlfriend, you haven't asked me yet," cora smirked. "Be mine," I moved closer to her. "All yours," she giggled. I kissed her again but was careful with Kieran and Arorah being in the middle. It was my perfect family.
